I'm putting the border on my granny square blanket. Not finished yet but I couldn't resist showing you a pic. The colours are much more vibrant in real life. I'm not sure how to get an accurate picture of them. I have my camera set on 'vivid' but it isn't quite vivid enough.

Wow! these colours are stunning and you say they are even more vibrant? The border is going to make it even more amazing!

Here it is, my version of Lucy's bag.

Photography is not my forte as you can see - this was my seventh attempt and it's still rubbish!

I'm thinking I might line the bag to stop it from stretching too much.

    Hope you like it! ;)

Can't work out how to put the pic on my post rather than the flickr link - can anyone help please?
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • jennyjelly, that bag looks lovely, well done! I really need to pull my finger out and start learning :)
ETA: also thriftlady, your granny blanket is beautiful too!
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

That's beautiful! What wool did you use? I love those vibrant colours, but my local shop doesn't seem to have anything like that.

That's lovely. I don't have much of a 'stash' to use up - I keep going into the local charity shop to see if they have any odd balls, but no luck yet.

I think lining the bag would be a good idea - I was thinking of doing the same for mine (which I'm using as a wool store - much nicer than the plastic bag I was using :D)

This is so pretty, I particularly love the yellow and the coral together. I also like the different shaped leaves :)

How to put in a photo from flickr

Step 1: On flickr, on your photo, if you click "All Sizes" (just above the photo), it will take you to a page where you can select different sizes.

Step 2: Click on "Medium" Which will take you to about the right size photo to put on this board.

Step 3: Now, if you scroll to the bottom of that page, there should be a box with a title "2. Grab the photo's URL:" (it's the second box)... copy what's in the box below this title... it will looks something like this: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/4276609053_d07aa20441.jpg

Step 4: Now come back to the MSE forum... Go to the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of THIS page

Step 5: There should be lots of icons just above where you type... it has ones that look like B (for bold) a slanted I (for Italics), a U with an underline, and so on.

Step 6: Amongst those icons, there is a yellow-ish box, 7th one from the left... It's between an Earth with two link chains, and a speach bubble... see it? - it's suppose to have a mountain and a sun, but it's not the best image of them. Click on that icon

Step 7: Should bring up the box asking for the image URL. Paste the link into there...

    Then you will get:

    Does that make sense?

Thanks Justamum. It's Rowan DK Pure Wool. My mum bought me a huge bagful for my birthday. It isn't cheap I'm afraid, I think she paid nearly £5 a ball:eek: at John Lewis Solihull but I see it is cheaper from Rowan Up Country. It's worth getting the shade cards so that you can see exactly what the colours look like. Trouble is, I want lots more now! I'm going to check out the Pattons Smoothies next.

Thanks for the Flickr info Pink Numbers, I didn't think it was possible to do that:T

pink_numbers Your bag is absolutely gorgeous, I could very happily steal it! I like your slightly more muted colours even more than Lucy's bright version. Did you line it?

Thank you for such clear instructions pink - I will have a go at it now and see if I can do it.
