Here's something which is very OS! http://www.craftstylish.com/item/39345/how-to-crochet-a-rug-out-of-t-shirts

I might give it a go next time there are t-shirts which we don't wear any more - it would make a good bath mat.

I've seen this before, but never managed to make one. Thanks for the inspiration again.

Though I have been crochetting for more years than I care to remember I bought the mag yesterday and its quite good, also the hook is long so I have been using it since I got it and my arthritis isnt as bad today! Think its a good start for a novice.

    HELP!!!!
has anyone seen a pattern for a baby bonnet and booties, I have found loads of patterns for either bonnets or booties but need a matching set.

DD has asked if I can crochet them for DGD christening outfit.

Don't mind if I have to buy the pattern, but spent about an hour earlier trying to find a matching pair and am all searched out.

Would need to be for a 6-12 month old

Thanks if you can help, will be searching again at the weekend

I don't have a pattern for baby bonnet and booties but I do have a pattern for a baby sleeping bag made out of trebles/doubles I think in rectangles and then sleeves sewn on, with ribbon for the wrists and poppers. I would have to check out the exact dimensions of the rectangles but would make a lovely beginner gift. (I learnt to crochet last decade when you simply couldn't get crochet books or learn online so got some patterns from charity shops).

Beginners. Start with small squares (2 inches by 2 inches) any stitch. Make into a patchwork (baby) blanket. Just make the squares and then oversew together. Next step up is the treble (that was hard to master) and making berets etc. Then the american granny square (looks amazing) for which you can get some patterns off ebay (not telling you the link cos you'll want the lot LOL. Hardly MS) Basically a 2 row granny square, different colours, make your own pattern, sew together patchwork style.

Made a hat (knitted) for sailors society just before xmas - got the yarn free from Lands End :). Now onto a log cabin (simple) patchwork afghan/throw for my sofa. Wool = £1.05 for 100g from the market :). (double knitting - it's cheapest).

Otherwise for wool try freecycle/charity shops if ya not fussed...

Will keep an eye on this thread. Looks fab..

PS. If you don't want to fork out 99p to learn to crochet best site I've found that I recommend like ALL the time (sorry am newbie so can't post links) to be found via crochet australia and go to crochet info and print off

Just started crocheting myself and as a friends daughter has recently had a son, decided to make a hat and booties for him. The size is 0-3 months, but you can see how the stitches are added for bigger sizes, so I would imagine it is fairly easy to make bigger (my first attempt fit my 15 year old daughter because my stitches were too slack :D).

Here's the link (the booties are on same website, down left hand side menu: http://susan.kraus.net/pages/pattern5.html

And here's my finished hat and booties:

I added the pom-pom's (homemade, easy to do)
