  • Just going to chip in with my bit!
I bought this as I have wanted to crochet for about the last 6 months and never got round to going to the local crochet/knit group. Saw this, bought it & was crocheting in a couple of hours! Neither my mum or nan can crochet, but they were so impressed they both bought it too! Have had a couple of lovely evenings all comparing crochet together :)
Whilst I agree with previous posters that it prob isn't worth getting all issues (£300 for a blankey is a bit much IMHO) - 99p to learn a new skill and bring three generations of the family together has been an absolute bargain.
    Happy New Year to all,
    Pooks
  • We own a convenience shop and get overwhelmed with new part-work mags at this time of year. We usually just return them straight away. Thanks to this thread, we decided to keep the box of crochet mags and they all sold in a day!

    Thanks!
    Katie.

Haven't managed to find this yet but I'm trying not to look too hard :money::rotfl:.
To those who are concerned that it is too basic, I got the Art of Knitting a couple of years ago and it does get more advanced. With the knitting one the idea was that the squares taught the stitches and techniques so you would be able to do the patterns inside. There were always about 5-6 patterns - some a bit rubbish but most were pretty good. They also indicated how difficult a pattern was, which is easier than trawling crochet pattern central etc for beginner patterns, and so rewarding when you manage to finish a proper thing :j
Oh dear. May have to have a proper look for it now....

I'm struggling on with this at the moment - probably doesn't help that my fingers are cold - but so far a hundred per cent improvement on my mum trying to teach me, which ended in a massive argument with her saying I'm unteachable (I, however, can knit, when she can't - ha ha!) Do notice that the practice wool seems to split very easily, or perhaps that's me? Maybe I've just unravelled it too much...

I really didn't mean to put the magazine down, have got the first copy and think what is in it is great, just wanted to say that its good for the basic stitches, but very pricey if you subscribe to the full set. There are soooo many free patterns and tutorials on the net, and the people on here are great, will always help you out if you are stuck.

I bought it the other day, I love the pattern for the mesh jumper in the first issue, I'm going to make it in cheapy DK and see how it goes before I commit to doing it in something nicer.

Here's something which is very OS! http://www.craftstylish.com/item/39345/how-to-crochet-a-rug-out-of-t-shirts

I might give it a go next time there are t-shirts which we don't wear any more - it would make a good bath mat.
