at £600:eek::eek::eek: for the three part course..... I think I will stick to youtube! Can't really see how putting an international diploma in crochet would help any future career prospects!!

Gosh, is it that expensive? I couldn't find a price on there. Maybe some of her one day courses might be more affordable if you live in the vicinity.
  • I'm a long-term crocheter, but haven't the patience with more than basic knitting.

I don't know if anyone else has said, but there are differences between US and UK crochet patterns, stitches and hooks, soyou need to check your patterns. I've lived in both he States and Britain so I can work in both, but it can be a pig to get used to.

    Cheers, HG

All stitches are different - because they call dc sc, our half treble is half double, their dc is our treble, treble is double treble, etc - basically one stitch down in name.
  • As the first project of the year, I'm making a bag from attic24 :D

I love her stuff and it's a joy to make something that even slightly resembles what she creats :) Her tutorials are very easy to follow as well, regardless of whether you crochet to British, American or Japanese patterns, thanks to lots of very clear photos.

That looks lovely. In fact all her stuff looks lovely - very bright and cheerful. I never seem to be able to find such clear colours in my local shop.

While in town today i got a phone call from my Mum who had just seen an advert on the t.v for a special issue of a new 'crochet' magazine. As it happens i was right outside WHSmith when i took the call so i went in and voila! There on the stand next to the till was the very magazine. It contains a learning to crochet beginner DVD, a crochet hook, 2 balls of wool and some papers that can be put in a binder. The magazine only costs 99p so it is a great way of economically finding out if crochet is yours, or in this case, MY, thing.

This is the first issue and there are going to be about 100 issues or something like that. I only want this issue, i can learn the rest off the internet, there are loads of videos on youtube and elsewhere.

    :-)

I've been wanting to learn crochet for a couple of years now, so when I saw this on TV I almost hit the ceiling with excitement! LOL!! I'm going to invest my 99p, learn how to crochet, then if I like it, I'll learn other stitches etc online. And I'm sure back issues will appear on eBay :)

Was in WH Smiths today and noticed a new weekly (I think) magazine for 99p.
It was a teach yourself guide but this addition includes a new crochet hook, 2 balls of yarn and a DVD.
So if you only buy one issue it'll be good value it for the hook alone.
    Keep a look out.
