Hi Mrs CD
I was hoping you'd come back online soon!
Thank you! I'm going to make a blanket for my daughter who is going to uni in September, just in case she gets cold - lol.
I've got lots of squares made, just have to decide how to join them together!
Thank you again for your help, it's really appreciated.
I think I'm addicted now!

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of weeks, but it looks like you might just have cracked it all by yourself! This one looks perfect :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T WELL DONE!
If you pin it upside down on an old seat pad or towel and hold a steam iron above it to do a burst of steam, it will hold its shape when you take the pins out after a few minutes. Don't touch with the iron though!
What are you going to do with it? Are you making a blanket to start off? You could make another one, sew together and use in the kitchen as a pot holder. I did this when I was learning how to do circles, and I still use my stripey green and white bit of loveliness!!!!
Have fun whatever you decide to do.:):)[/QUOTE]

Hi Sally,
You can either sew the squares together or crochet them. If you sew them, put the right sides together and sew the back stitches only. It makes a lovely neat right side where you can't see the join. If you crochet them, put the wrong sides together and crochet through the whole top two strands of each stitch with a slip stitch or you can do double crochet. It makes a raised edge which is an extra feature on your blanket. Think about what sort of edging you will make, too.
Lucy at Attic 24 has some really good tutorials on edging and there are loads on YouTube.
I'm so pleased you are enjoying crochet:D:D:D:D:D
Let me see the blanket when it's finished!
My latest creations have been a 'Lucy' type rainbow stripe bag, a mandala which I'm going to use as a doily under my flower vase/jug, and a medal for my friend who has received (just not quite yet!) a BEM in Her Majesty's Birthday Honours!

Starting a new blanket. I have loads of wool kicking about the house and want rid of it but its 1 ball of this and 1ball of that, 1/2 a ball of another etc etc. so i found a quick work up blanket using hexagons, only 3 rounds so should let me use up all or most of the wool collection.
chain 4. slip stitch into 1st chain, chain 3 (counts as 1st double crochet usa terms)
11 dc into whole in middle, go over your tail, slip stitch into top of chain 3.
pull tail to tighten hole.
slip stich one along, chain 3, dc into gap between the dcs, ch 1
2dc, ch 1 in each space around, (24 dcs and 24 ch1 spaces) slip stitch to join
slip stitch until u come to a ch1 space, ch3, dc, ch3, 2 dc in the same ch1 space.
2 dc in next space
2dc chain 3 2dc , 2dc - repeat until complete.
when joining together, i pick a corner, do my 2 dc then i ch 1, then i take off my hook, put my hook through a ch3 gap of the finished hexagon, catch my ch 1, pull through then do my next 2 chains, then compplete my 2dc back in the space i am working on, 2dc then same again for the corner, 2dc, ch1, move hook onto joining hex and complete the chains and dc's.
I'm changing to cotton. I absolutely hate using wool. it doesnt feel nice and both me and son cant wear anything made of wool as it makes us itch.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Depends on the online storage you use Flickr, photobucket etc, but generally you copy the img code and paste it in your reply or use the direct link and click the yellow square with a mountain icon then paste the url there. I'll be more precise when I know what site you use
nmm- I only know how to save my photos onto my computer! I'm not that tech-savvy! Thanks for the advice, though2025 Fashion on the ration

LolaLemon, your hexagons look beautiful. Just be careful if you mix wool with acrylic or cotton as they will wash differently and may make your finished work go out of shape. Can't wait to see it all done.2025 Fashion on the ration

If you log onto photobucket (or any other online place like it) you sign up and it will ask u to import photos, it will search you computer for you and you can select and deselect what you want. then they are all on line for you. you can also link up your phone (if camera/internet/smartphone) and it will auto back up your photos for you if you get the app. if not you can forward them onto it your self.
I love it as i lost my fone last year and thought i had lost all my pictures, but they where on my online account. it was teh best feeling ever. Thank youIts all wool and wool mixes, I'm, not too bothered about what it goes like down the line, just need to use it all up. I would donate it but then the frugal in me is shouting "you paid a fortune for all that! Try and use it before you donate it!".
I don't have a lot of cotton as i tend to buy that with a specific project about to be started.
I don't know if i will keep the blanket when done, or if i will give it away to a friend or donate it to the hospital/hospice yet. hopefully i've decided by time i am done
A friend tagged me in a post on fb today where the person had made valance curtains! I'm really tempted!

Thanks for the info LolaLemon
That valance is gorgeous!!
I'm making a filet crochet shawl at the moment, but if I get fed up with it (as if!), my family say it would double up as an old fashioned half net curtain :rotfl:;)2025 Fashion on the ration
