Attic24 fans - I was looking around her blog the other day, I'm sure she was selling wool bundles but I can't find the page now. Can you please point me in the right direction? Or did I imagine it?
Here it is http://www.countrycrafts.org.uk/attic24pack.html

Hi I've just found this thread, I've been struggling with knitting for years and never really got anywhere, I have just taught myself how to make granny squares and christmas snowflakes from youtube and now completely addicted to crochet! Used to spend my free time comping but doesn't look like I'll be winning much now!
Youtube is great for tutorials which you pause and rewind again and again until you get the hang of it. Also I always get my wool from charity shops- odds and ends really cheap as well as donated new wool from companies.Best Wins- Samsung TV and Soundbar, £500 Pepsi cash and a weekend break

Hi all x I'm just relearning how to crochet, youtube is my best friend right now
M.
y MIL has expressed an interest so I thought I would make her up a crochet hamper for christmas. I'm wondering what book you would reccommend for beginners, as she has no internet access.
A lot of the books I have seen so far have great reviews, then mention that they have the american stitch names, which I dont think would be suitable.
so, looking for beginners guide, different sttches and a few simple patterns...

Hi
I asked my husband for a christmas present last year of books on crochet so I could learn. The absolute best was Crochet Unravelled, About £6 on amazon.
It seems really small, but it is really clear and takes you through all the stictches really well, has the US conversion and does left & right handed. Also gives little tasks to do to learn each stitch. I refer to it all the time.
He also bought me the 200 granny squares book which is really good too.
Now I have taught myself I absolutely LOVE it.
Crochet hamper is a great idea.

Thank you so much gastrohound, have been straight on amazon and ordered it.
she'll be getting the book, a set of hooks, maybe a couple of patterns printed off from r@velry and a selection of wool presented in either a bag or a basket. basket will look better, bag will be more useful so undecided yet.
thanks again xxxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
