I've used rico cotton and although smoothe to touch once made it's a right pain to crochet with imo. Never again.

My little neice stayed over last night so I made her a little pocket and put some hair bobbles in as a pressie to take back. I put her initials on too. A bit amateurish but its my fourth ever crochet attempt!!!

I kinda made it up as I went along ;)

That's lovely. It reminds me of when I was little. My aunt came to stay, and one night after I'd gone to bed she crocheted a dress, hat and coat for my Sindy which I found laid out for me in the morning as a surprise. It was like the clothes for the elves from the Elves and the Shoemaker :rotfl: I've still got the clothes, and both my daughters have used them for my old Sindy and their Barbies.

I loved that story when I was little!!!

How lovely to wake up to such a surprise. I bet your Aunty had loads of pleasure from your delighted face that morning :)

Jumblejack - you really have caught the crocheting bug, haven't you :T Your makes are lovely. I made a couple of little purse things with leftover wool to put in shoeboxes this Christmas :)
They're so quick to do and give a lot of pleasure in the making and hopefully in the receiving of them.
When our DDs were little I made lots of clothes for their dollies. Some knitted and some sewn. They lasted for years and they're still in a bag waiting for the next generation to come along ;)

I've no grand kids yet but by the time they come along I should be able to some nice things!!

I want to buy a bigger hook today (I'm using a 4mm at the moment). I want to start crocheting granny squares. I really want to make a throw for the kid's beds. :j
I'm going away for a week soon and I want to start a bigger project.

JJ- you can make a throw with lots of granny squares sewn or crocheted together or you can just keep going round and round with your square. I have 3 like that which my Grandma made years ago, to use up odd bits of wool, and they're lovely and warm.

Attic24 fans - I was looking around her blog the other day, I'm sure she was selling wool bundles but I can't find the page now. Can you please point me in the right direction? Or did I imagine it? :o
