    Thanks guys :)

Yes i have had a look on youtube but have been having a nightmare as i keep finding American ones which are different i believe to UK crochet?

I have managed to get half a chain of double crochet stitch now :) Its looking a bit like it was done by a 4 year old but it'll improve,......i hope!!!!

That's normal, stick with it and you'll soon see.
TBH I often find the first row of stitches, after the chain, hardwork, as I often find the first row of knitting after casting on!
I think I prefer to crochet in the round, but only recently have I mastered the magic circle for my beginning circle (started self teaching crochet a few yrs back). Don't look at the link yet lol, just putting it there if anyone does want to try it ;).

My OH has got me a kids learn to crochet kit for Christmas because I've always fancied giving it a go! Just noticed this thread.
Is crochet easier than knitting? I'm thinking of starting early and making a load of blankets as presents for next christmas as its going to be a tight year for us!

CompBunny, I have just decided to learn to crochet and bought myself a book and was looking on the internet. Only found American tutorials which were doing my head in. Bought myself a book at the weekend Kids learn to crochet and as I said to the woman on the till or not very clever adult like myself lol. I am 43  Love the book as it is an easier to follow and my youngest DD2 aged 8 has put a request in. So glad I found this thread as there are some fantastic links on here. Thanks to everyone for the links and being so helpful. Just wish I could learn quicker. Good luck we will have to compare notes to see how we are both getting on.;)
