Another newbie here! Got into it via The Art of Crochet mag, bought the first one, and just bought myself some more yarn to practice with. I've done one row of double crochet and am now trying to work out how to get onto the next row hehe! Ah well, its keeping me out of trouble in the evenings0

I'm a novice as well and trying to learn by watching You Tube videos as well as magazines and books. I just treated myself to a book from Twinkie Chan as I love her take on Crochet and food!0

Don't what ever you do try and subscribe to it online (with the lure of free gifts) which I tried to do about 6 months ago. I didn't receive even one copy. Kept getting excuses why I hadn't received it and getting different stories as to which issue it would start at. Tried to cancel it which was even worse but eventually managed (even though they complained that I had cancelled the direct debit.) Have since discovered that there are a lot of unhappy subscribers out there.
However, if I like the look of it then I was thinking of ordering it through WH Smiths as you can easily stop them whenever you want.
Arrghhh!!!
Got home last night to receive a letter from Art of Crochet thanking me for my subscription and to check my bank details which were on the letter and I would shortly be receiving my first issue.
Searched through my emails and I had received one from them back in February appologising for part of the mess and saying that they had removed my bank details from their system.
A very sharp email has winged its way to them.Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100

Hi there
I have done very basic crochet but am keen to get hold of the Art of Crochet as i have heard folk raving about it. From what I can gather this is one of those publications which builds up with a huge number of copies. As I only want to do some of the basics is it worth me buying copious issues of this magazine?
Any advice appreciated.0 -
Hi, I have finally learned some basic crochet skills thanks to the first art of crochet mag. Tesco had the first issue, but none since
. I have made a small granny square blanket for my cat and he seems to like it, he had it rucked up earlier and was using it as a pillow!

I have been using these Knit Pro hooks.

I have found them so much more comfortable to use than the metal ones.Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100

Any experts out there? I can do the first row of double crochet, get to the end turn it and do the turning chain, but I just can't start the next row off. You know where you have to start putting the hook through the top two stitches (I think I've worked this out) but the hook just won't go through, it's too tight. I've tried doing everything loosely but once I get to this stage it's just to too tight to go through
Any suggestions?
