Lovely piccies on here as usual. I've just uploaded this on another thread but since I post on here whenever I've achieved anything, thought you may like a peep. A crochet flower lariat. Enjoyed doing it but will make smaller flowers next time.

Thank you :) You haven't been too long doing your flower cushion either, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished article.

I bought the 17 ball pack from Masons for the Granny Stripe, but had quite a lot left over, so I used it for the ripple cushion and am now using more of it on my second Blooming Flower, but I'm sure I'll run out of it sometime soon :rotfl:

Thats what I am using too!!!!!! I will post a pic when i have finished.

Yes, for what you are doing there should be the same number of stitches on each row. The reason it curved at the bottom is because the chains are tighter than the rest.
Don't give up, keep practicing it, will suddenly click and you'll wonder how you thought it was so difficult :)

Thanks for that. When I knit I use a bigger needle to cast on then use the needle they say ... do people do that for crochet too? As the cast on edge is very unstretchy I did wonder.

Thanks to this thread and the wonderful ripple blanket on the previous page I have spent 4 hours today looking at Attic24 and still not finished going through the archive. So addictive!

If you find your starting chain is too tight then yes you can do it with a bigger hook; some people do that.
I know I crochet tight so I make sure I do the first chain loose due to its lack of stretch!

  • After looking at all the beautiful crochet photos, I've decided to post a couple of mine.

This was shell blanket and bootties for my niece.

This was a shawl/blanket I crocheted for my nephew.

Am currently working on another blanket for my new niece but it won't be finished for a while.

  • They are beautiful pinkpiggy.

I just love seeing everyone's finished items. I can't wait to post pictures of mine but my current project is a knitting one so it may be a little while before I have any crochet to post.

Doh! why didn't I think of that - I do exactly the same in knitting but hadn't thought to do it in crochet. :T
