Missmilly - Your blanket is gorgeous I hope I can be a 10th as good as you are:)

I havent progressed anymore with my cushion/blanket cos I have had a couple of disasters on the home front, but all sorted now so I think I will make an appointment with myself so I can have some time to do crafty things like crocheting:)

Thank you so much :) I used the Stylecraft Special DK purchased as this pack http://www.masonsneedlecraft.co.uk/zcart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1395 it was a good price and delivered the day after I ordered it.
How big is the blanket and did you use all the yarn?

The blanket measures approx 110 x 150 cms, so not huge. I had 17 x 100gm balls of yarn in the pack to start with. The finished blanket weighs just over 1000gms so I have just under 700gms of part balls left in mixed colours, which I am happy to use up on other projects :)

    Your blanket is absoloutely beautiful!

May I ask what size crochet hook you used? and where did you get the pattern?

The ottoman is fab too, I have one sitting unloved in the garage waiting to be done up, I must dig it out and get to it!

    Thank you :)

I used a 4mm hook and the pattern, along with many others, can be found on Lucy's blog at attic24

I was really pleased with the ottoman, I took it all apart then painted it with Farrow & Ball Dimity, totally renovated the top and covered it with Ikea Rosali fabric.

I have a huge pile of granny squares to make into a blanket and I wondered what the general consensus was when it came to making them up? Do you make the blanket up as you go along or do you wait until you have all the squares done?

With the three granny square blankets I have made, I have always completed all the squares first. I lay them all out on the floor as I go along (they have all been double bed size, so quite large) so that I get the right size, design and/or colour sequence. After that I join each long row of squares by crocheting them together, so I end up with a lot of long strips of squares if you see what I mean. I then join all the long strips together. After that it's onto the border..... :) I just wish I could [STRIKE]be bothered[/STRIKE] remember to sew all the ends in as I go along

I'm sure others will do it differently, but that is how I have done it so far, and hope it helps you to decide.

I have been sewing the square ends in as I have been going along so at least I wont have that to face when I start. Think I will go with that approach the squares are different colours so trying to do it as I go along would be too confusing.

How many squares of 4 round granny squares will I need for a single bed sized blanket?
