Missmilly please do the ripple!!!!! i really love the look of it but think it may be too difficult for me, would love to know how you find it. But then i do like the look of the sweet flower granny blanket too......

What size did you do the granny stripe blanket?

I love this thread. Thanks for all the inspiration. I havent crocheted for years and years but have now taken it back up. Have made several dolls blankets and am now making a scarf. Got a couple of books for Christmas but am having difficulty reading the patterns. Am going to check out all the links you have given to try some more designs after I've finished my latest project. OH isnt very happy though as apparently I talk less to him when i'm crocheting than I do when I am reading. I thought he'd be pleased!

I think I am going to attempt the Ripple, if only because it looks complicated, I must be totally mad! I think I'll have a practise on a few stitches first though.

I'm doing the Granny in the same size as Lucy's pattern, cast on 240 stitches (that bit nearly put me off!), she says the finished size is 110 x 150cms, so not huge.

Watch this space for news of me and the Ripple :rotfl:

I'm going to do a small ripple blanket, hoping to aim for 3 finished for summer, as swell as my sister being pregnant, just found out my cousin is expecting Twins!

The ripple should not be hard after the 2nd or 3rd row, as it is just the same stitches with increase and decrease everye couple of stitches. I've done a few similar but for scarves. I'm sure tjw1963 have a video up but probably named something else.

I am sitting here making piles of granny squares and I have just realised the impact that yarn colour has on my enthusiasm. The throw is for my DD and I had chosen three colours initially. Making the first set of squares was a real thrill and I loved seeing the yarn come together.

Now however I am on the next set and I am not as in love with one of the new colours and it has taken a bit of a shine off my crochet. Does that sound silly or have others been affected by yarn colour?

While you are talking about the Lucy ripple blanket I am really keen to make one for my bedroom. The covers we have are teal and I have a vision of an ocean inspired ripple blanket with blues, greens, teals and creams all flowing together :D

Now all I need is to win the lottery as I want to spend a small fortune on yarn :rotfl:

In fact I may sell some of my stash on e-bay to fund my new project!

Those ocean colours sound really fab, do you know which yarn you will use for your ripple? I think I may start with the ripple cushion as it's a smaller project than the blanket. I need to decide soon 'cos Granny Stripe is finished bar the edging :).

I also need to buy more yarn as I have lots of bits and bobs but probably not enough of anything for a large project......I have bought lots of Debbie Bliss Prima from Ebay, I got it all for a good price, but the finished double blanket was very pricey when I add it all up , but it is lovely and soft and snuggly.;)

Think I will go with the Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino or a more affordable equivalent if one exists? I am using it to make my granny blanket and it is lovely to work with.

I am not going to track the costs of my blankets etc too closely. It is something I love to do and it gives me hours of relaxed pleasure. However I may have to reign in my monthly spend and crochet a bit slower ;)

    Hi Rummer

I started a ripple blanket and I'm not happy about the colours I have chosen for it. (brown, teal, cream and dusky pink) I love Lucy's choice of colours but I can never seem to find bright coloured wool unless it's acrylic which I don't want to use. I did see some nice Debbie Bliss wool on Lucy's website which I might buy but I'm not sure whether to persevere with the blanket or start again :(

Can anyone explain how Lucy joins a new colour? Does she finish off a colour like you would at the end of a project and then knot the new colour on to that fastened off bit?? Is this better than the 'normal' way??

If you go to this tutorial for her bauble decorations there is a good description & some clear photos of how she joins her colours :)

Not sure what to recommend. I would really like a more affordable version of the Baby Cashmerino, does anyone know of a different brand?
