Well I'm no longer out of inspiration. I'm going to crochet Lucy's bag
I'll put all of my crafting equipment inside when it's complete. Happy crocheting. I only have 1 ball of yarn so the base willhave to be meadow green until I can get to the store to lap up some lovely colours for the stripes.0 -

Lucy's bag is fab, I made one earlier in the year, it's not in the prettiest of colours as I just used up bits and bobs of aran wool that I had left over. It is really quick and easy to make and holds a whole load of yarn and stuff when finished. I'll post a photo later, hopefully.
I am busy working on Lucy's Granny Stripe Blanket using her yarn pack from Masons. http://www.masonsneedlecraft.co.uk/zcart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1395. It was very reasonable, I paid just under £28 for 17 balls inc.postage, and it was delivered the day after I ordered it!
I am now wondering what to make next!0 -

I didn't realise you could get Lucy yarn packsI am a bit concerned though as my experience of acrylic yarn has been that it is rough a scratchy to use and cuddle. How does this measure up in relation to it's texture?
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Can I join? I've just finished reading the whole thread. Thanks to you all I've started
crocheting again. I learnt several years ago through the internet
and books. I found Granny squares difficult as I could never find the right chain stitch to start the new round so I would put a safety pin through it as I crocheted it so when I got to the next round I could find it easily and then just remove the pin.
Hi Elle1267, it's lovely to see you here too. Interesting too that you as well as many others here learned via the web and books. It gives me hope! I'm slowly coming to grips with what the left had does..or doesn't at times. Thanks for the tip with the granny blanket - when I get to one I'll remember that.
They're really beautiful missmilly! One day!

I know what you mean about it being scratchy to use, but this Stylecraft acrylic is really soft to work with and feels quite snuggly. I haven't washed it yet, so can't comment how it would be afterwards. Lucy seems to use it fairly often, so I am hoping that is a recommendation of sorts
I have recently bought a Soft Touch crochet hook too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280764770315?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 and have found it very comfortable to use and no more sore fingers. I think I tend to hold the hook too firmly though.....0 -
Hello!
I have started to crochet a pair of wrist warmers and I am so looking forward to having snuggly wrists. Tonight and tomorrow I am going to crochet a wee heap of snowflakes to give as crafty gifts on Sunday!

I have used the style craft chunky yarn before on my dog's blanket. When it is washed, and has been many a time, it holds it's colour and shape. It does feel very 'tight' as if it's shrunk a little and 'squeaky' when it moves.
If the stylecraft DK yarn is the same then I would think carefully about making snuggly blankets or clothing, anything that will need washing lots then I would maybe stear clear. I have no qualms about using it though, it will be perfect for my bag0
