    Hi all

I am pregnant at the moment and making a baby blanket (very slowly!), but i have read that a few of you backed your blankets, can i ask why? and what with? this is all quite new to me!

    claire

You don't have to line the blankets as on some of my baby blanket i don't as they look nice as they are but when i am crocheting a simple plain blanket i want something different so i line the back of the blanket with a cotton material. Everyone do them differently some crochet the cotton onto the blanket, others knot the two material together and with me i am hoping to sew the edges together on the sewing machine and maybe sew it so that it creates a block quilt effect. Not sure yet but i got the idea to line them from Etsy after seeing some beautiful plain crochet blankets turned into colourful baby blanket just by adding the cotton!

Here are some of the examples - http://www.etsy.com/shop/sheilalikestoknit?section_id=10758337

HTH :) And congratulations on your pregnancy! Pics of the blanket after please :)

Just made one of these for a friend of mine:

    http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-snowflake.html

It was nice and straightforward and is currently pinned to stretch it into shape!

They look lovely! I've got my wool and was going to crochet a double bed throw for our bed but been stuck at which pattern to do. I want to try something i haven't done yet so this has given me an idea! I might do simple squares with these snowflakes in the middle... not sure how it would look yet but will try it our later. If it looks naff i will just have to search for another square pattern! :)

    Evening :D

I have spent my monthly yarn budget and I have made it work hard this month! Thought I would share what I have got:

    • Rico creative cotton x 5 - going to make bunting for my DD
    • Sirdar smiley stripes in Cherry Chuckle x1 - for wrist warmers
    • DB cashmerino x 3 (reduced :D) - to start DDs blanket
It all came to a total of £23.75, slightly over budget however the cashmerino was a bargain! Just gazing at my purchases now, well some of them are some were ordered online and are not here yet :(

Hi, what is the starch spray for? Is it for blocking? I hate blocking and if this helps to speed it up i am very interested!

Starch will stiffen your knitting as it dries.

If you want your snowflakes to be really stiff you could try this. there are lots of different versions if you do a search.
Oh dear, here we go again.

I had a long break from crocheting when the kids were growing up and tried to get back into it last year but my get up and go seems to have got up and gone and I haven't made anything for about 6 months. I need to get back into it so maybe this thread will help :)

These are the last things I made.
