I tend to shop around online for my yarn as I am addicted to Debbie Bliss and find it so expensive in my local shops. There is a great shop on ebay that sells multi packs of yarn: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Aileens-Wool-Shop?_rdc=1 It would just be nice to have a wee stash of different colours to dip into for a variety of small projects, plus just looking at it makes my heart sing
Not sure what amount I should set myself, maybe £10-£20 a month??? what do you all think would be sensible??
Attic24 is my favourite blog ever and I pop onto it every day to see what Lucy has been creating. There are loads of inspiring pictures and musings as well as fabulous patterns and yarn recommendations. As someone new to crochet it has been fabulous.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Ok I have set my crochet budget
and I have decided to create a ripple blanket
going to use the advice given on Attic24 and use the Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. Not really sure what colours to go for, I think I will go and lose myself in the local yarn shop choosing them and then get my first couple of balls with my budget!

UI have finished 4 throws one which I just swapped for a Christmas tree as the ones I saw today were not worth the money - so that works well for me. I will post a pic tomorrow. One is for my Sister in law who has cancer and I think will appreciate the snuggle value.Clearing the junk to travel light

I am a long time lurker on this thread, and love seeing all your lovely work, so I thought I'd show you some of mine. I taught myself to crochet with the help of books etc, and thanks to this thread I found Lucy at Attic24. I love her work, and her patterns and tutorials are so easy to follow, most of my makes are inspired by Lucy.

Oh missmilly, they are lovely! I do like the flower round cushion, and like you love to look at Attic24.
I like your pinky patchwork blanket too. I'm inspired to do a one for my little girls bedroom now. Love it!
Rummer, I' starting a ripple bit I'm not impressed with how wishywashy the first row looksThe peaks and troughs are not defined very well. I don't know what i'm doing wrong.
I would love to have a crochet budget! I always feel really guilty when I buy a ball of wool as it's not a necessity but crocheting for me is my hobby. I'm lost if I haven't got a project.0 -
I love the stuff you've made missmilly, especially the round cushion, I'd love to do that myself but can't find it on the attic24's website, can you provide a link please?
thanksBe happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -
Thank you for your lovely comments, I have really enjoyed making these things, the Blooming Flower Cushion was a complete joy to make, especially as it grew so quickly. I made it from odd bits of wool I had left from other projects, so it felt as though it was free, very MSE :T
Here is the link to the pattern, I hope you enjoy making it too.....

I am now having a bit of a break from squares, making 200+ squares, then blocking them all, sewing in ends and having to crochet them all together seems to take forever. So, I have just started on Lucy's Granny Stripe Blanket, but I think I'm going to run out of room for blankets soon!0 -

Funny you should ask...I've yet to get passed the 2nd row of 21 stitches, loops or whatever best describes them.
There was Jessie a little while ago saying she had just started...loved it..and had made several squares!
I want so much to get the hang of crochet but just can't seem to hold the yarn correctly in my left hand. I've watched countless videos and bought 2 books, is it a me thing or should I give up and try knitting again - though I can't as with a bad hand (accident) I just can't hold the needles (in right hand) correctly anymore.
Any tips anyone? Or am I beyond them!
missmilley, your work is absolutely gorgeous..and here's me with my 2 lines...how do you rate my chances of getting anywhere near your standards????? :rotfl:

The main thing I have learnt is to hold the yarn whatever way works for me. I could not master crochet when trying to hold the yarn the way I am 'meant' to! I just found a comfortable way to hold it and it works for me. Just find what works for you.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0
