Hi all
So what are we all working on over the holidays?
I am currently doing yet another hat .... a friend requested one. Then I have to do 2 flower brooches for another friend.
Hopefully then I can move on to other things ... would like to try making some clothes. I suppose I will have to finally give in and make some tension swatches if I do that tho ...... have avoided doing them so far2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Just this minute finished my last crocheted gift, a mans scarf. Phew! Glad that's now finished. Don't know what to start on next. No: 171 of the "Pay all your debt off by Christmas 2012" challenge. Paid off so far :£0,000/ £1,500:o
Please excuse typos, 1) I am using an iPad and don't get on with it 2) I am disabled 3) I'll bite you if you get snarky about it.0 -
I had a long break from crocheting when the kids were growing up and tried to get back into it last year but my get up and go seems to have got up and gone and I haven't made anything for about 6 months. I need to get back into it so maybe this thread will help
These are the last things I made.
I LOVE this!!!! Do you know where i can get the pattern from please?Follower of 'The Harcombe Diet'.0 -

I am currently working on my white flower square double bed throw. Done 6 squares now but i am in no rush just love crocheting when kids are in bed and watching the tv in peace! I've done so many blankets that i too would love to make some clothes... maybe a cardigan for DD. Ok, that will be my next next next project as i have so many i want to do!0 -

me too, it's soooo pretty!!:T
I'm afraid I haven't even taken my crochet hook out the packet yet. I'm a bit scared I think:o I know the links will be on this thread somewhere, but could someone recommend good YouTube tutorials please? Something suitable for someone completely and utterly cackhanded if possible!0 -
Search out tjw1965 she has amazing videos, from basic stitches to complete projects, with links to slower or left hand videos. The stitch names are American but once u get the hang of name difference, it opens up soo many new projects to u.
From her videos and blog I learned to crochet and read a patter both in diagram and words completely in about 6months to a year.
A friend of mine preferred mikesmail, whereas I didn't.(she never did learn how to read patterns so was restricted with what she could make.)Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

All the best Cat, you sound so like me, but keep going - I will - even if it is in the wrong way!BTW, I recognise your avatar - it's my crochet!!!!!
Well, I've still been trying everyone and have seen even more of your posts urging me on - thank you ALL so very much. I've done a little lately but Christmas and a couple of other threads have taken a lot of my time, but hopefully after Christmas I'll have more time to tackle it properly...she says oozing such confidence!
I'm certainly getting the hang of the stitches better, I just wish someone would work their left hand with my right, t'would be so much easier don't you think?!I can keep up a couple of stitches using the left hand correctly, then my mind goes elsewhere and the left hand is hanging onto the work (work???! what a cheek!), though I somehow still get the wool to where I want - it's just that the whole process (about 4 stitches) takes about 5 minutes! BTW, the matinee jacket above is gorgeous, but way beyond me, don't you think! :undecided
Never mind, I WILL keep plugging away at it, I'm not giving up now, if anything it just makes me more deterined, possibly as I can no longer knit, but by hook or by crook I'll get there. As Lola and others have said though, the tjw1965 YouTube tutorials are marvellous as she's slow like me!!!
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone, and all that's important in the New Year. I'll be back and thank you ALL so very, very much for your continued support.
