  • kinky & v8 your blankets are lovely, you should both be very proud.

I have finished my cushion cover now, well the front of it anyway. I was very pleased to find that I had just enough yarn after all. I am working the back in a different yarn now, so hopefully sometime fairly soon I should have a picture for you.

  • Kinky, the wool I used was Artesano Alpaca Hummingbird DK Sunbird (nothing like a good name is there?) which I bought off eBay.

It wasn't cheap, but it's soooooo soft :)

Roughly how any squares did you get out of a 150g hank of yarn V8?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

  • Racy,

I think it worked out about 21, but I ended up not using it all as I was making a specific amount of squares and I miscalculated the amount of yarn I needed :o.

I was getting about 7 out of a 50g ball of DK, hence my calculation.

    Love the two blankets!

My first attempt at crochet happened last year when my little one had to go as a nursery character and wanted Humpty Dumpty, we made a shirt like a wall and his face as the egg - and I crochet the legs & arms which he wore as a bearded, he looked cute! I loved crocheting but didn't have time to continue (moving house)!

I've been watching on line videos and reading, so I can start up again!

Just wondering if anyone has any book recommendations for me?

I learnt with The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller which also has some great patterns in it but it is American, like most of the videos on youtube but that's fine by me :D It is really good used along with youtube to make sure you are doing it right.

Well, I've had some startling news - I'm going to be a granny!

Not the best timing - DS & GF are 18 and it was a complete accident - but it's a fait accompli now so might as well embrace it!

GF is bubbling with excitement, DS hasn't been. However he went to a footie match last week and in the shop there were babygrows in his club colours with badges on, so suddenly he's feeling a bit happier.

Anyway, the point of this is that he has asked me to make a cot blanket, hat, bootees & mitts all in his colours, Bless!
