Hi all again,
I first saw this thread way back in February and it bought back so many memories of my mum making a blanket years ago, she only ever made the one and it was just simple stripes. But it was such a cosy blanket!
Since then i got way to excited and went to the only yarn type shop i knew. They only had a size 9 hook left, so thats what i bought along with the only chunky yarn i could find. Ive not worked non-stop on this blanket, it was way to hot even if it was a bad summer but ive finally finished it a couple of weeks ago and here is the end result. Its far from perfect, its only made up of double crochet and the end is far better than the start of it. The borders made up too as to be honest i really dont know how to do much else yet
I will hopefully be starting a more planned blanket soon. Ive still got some yarn left over that i will turn into a hot water bottle cover. Anyway here is the picture, i hope ive done it right0 -

I'm the opposite, I've made quite a few amigurumi type things but never tried the granny squares, although I love crocheted blankets as much as anybody. Could you have a look at my post above with the odd looking square and see what I've done wrong?
There are loads of free patterns on Lion Brands web site, they're all in american though, but some nice things. I made this tea-cup pin cushion from them:Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

Why has it got this funny bit? Anyone tell what I've done wrong from this?
I've crocheted quite a lot of ami but have never made a square before. Any ideas?
At a quick glance I looks like you have crocheted 'in between' the dc's on that corner instead of into the top of them like on the other corners, hence the 'hole'.0 -
mythi i agree with you there i have done this before and have had to unpick, to my hubby it wasnt noticable but i knew it was there and thistledome thanks for the website and angie_baby that blanket is gorgeous did you follow a patternI am a stay at home mum with a passion for life and all things crafty:xmastree::santa2::xmastree:0
