Hi ginnyknit. I have made hearts from this pattern http://belladia.typepad.com/bella_dia/2008/02/sweet-heart-cro.html
and hung them over my fireplace last Valentine's day. I crocheted them in alternate pink and red. But you have given me a lovely idea. I never thought to do that with them. Thanks :) I like the thought of the essential oil too. May make some for the bed post with a little lavender on.

(I had a feeling I'd posted a pic of them over my fireplace, last year. They are on post 546 if anyone wants to have a peep)

  • Hi guys just found this thread and I hope you don't mind me joining? I started teaching myself to crochet a couple of months ago with youtube and got a couple of books-my fav one is Debbie Stoller's The Happy Hooker :) I have learnt with the American terms which is fine since all the really nice looking patterns I've found are in American anyway. Youtube really is brilliant though as I found it really hard to understand just reading what to do and looking at pics. If anyone is just starting out the first thing I did was these cherries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7moLuvusww which are really fun and easy and real incentive to carry on learning as you get something good in a matter of just minutes really oh and it teaches you the brilliant magic circle which is SOOO handy to know! I have made a couple of bunnies since then - I LOVE my Amigurumis :j I will post a picture soon, they're not great but hopefully thing'll start getting better and quicker with time. I have started making a handbag today, so far it is not great at all but thought it would be nice for a present.....may go back to the bunnies instead :rotfl:

  • Sorry guys, me again....just a quick one - how do I post pictures on here? Do they have to be on a website for me to post? Can I not just copy from the pictures on my laptop???

I've just been watching that and it's fantastic! It's always been so fiddly trying to make circles the normal way - I'll use this one in future. I can't believe how easy it is.

These look good enough to eat (but without the calories! :rotfl:)

    Hello everyone
I'm also an avid knitter and crochet-er (?) - I don't know if it's been said already, but do also checkout your local library, a really cheap source of patterns and ideas. Our local branch has a wealth of books that you can borrow for up to three weeks (long enough for most projects). Yes, some of the books are ancient, but the joy of this is that the patterns have gone full circle of being out of fashion and now back in!
I've just finished a baby blanky (little lad arrived in the early hours of yesterday), am also in the middle of an aran jumper for my eldest, a crochet cushion cover for shabby chic-ing my living room and crochet draft excluder (winter preparation): I get bored easily and like to have several things on the go - is this normal?
This thread's a good ready by the way, lovely getting to know you all!
