  • When i was younger I played with Thomas the tank, loved anything that boys did, really wasnt into Barbie (i'm female btw) I wasnt impressed when my dad bought me a pink barbie campervan for my birthday. I would watch Thomas the tank over and over on video. I always wanted a stretch armstrong when I was younger, and I never got one :-(. When I turned 18 I had a party and I got a giant stretch Armstrong collectors edition!!! :D

I was a tomboy(ish) until about 15/16, now i'm very girly, love hair make up dresses etc etc.......

My son used to watch Daniel O'Donell videos over and over when he was 2. My MIL even took him to see him at a concert. We have great fun reminding him as he's now 20.

When I was little I hated girls toys and girls clothes, I am female but I found it all boring and silly. I had cars, lego, skateboards, transformers etc...I wore boys jeans and tshirts, boys trainers and this was all deemed acceptable as I was a girl, if I was a little boy it would be frowned upon which I find really unfair.

I am straight and now dress very feminine, I wear make-up and look completely normal. No one told me as a child I would grow up gay so why would they worry about a boy doing this...society is unfair and wrong.

Let him choose who he is and he will grown to be a happy and fulfilled adult one day :)

We got my stepbrother his longed-for sindy doll for his 21st :)

He was desperate for one when he was younger but his mum was having none of it. He has a little girl now, and can buy as many girly toys as he likes lol!

Is that a fifi tablecloth? My boy loved fifi when he was 2 :D

Its just the box, typical toy - came with ten tonnes of packaging

And looking rather hot with them too. :)
  • This thread has really brought a smile to my face.

I dont think I would go all out and buy pink shoes for outdoor wear. Just ones with bits of pink in them as other children can be very cruel.

By far, the best suggestion yet is the dressing up box!!!

When I was little my rather unfit mother used to call me a lesbian because I liked climbing trees, skateboards, breakdancing etc!!!!! I actually grew up to be straight and a rather girly air-hostess! My older brother who loves to swill beer, swear, watch football, shag birds (!), and is a plasterer spent all his time as a youth listening to Cliff Richard and checking his blonde highlights in the mirror!
  • He's four for goodness sake, let the little lad have his pink shoes.
I assume your'e frightened giving in to his need for his little pink shoes is encouraging his femininine side just a little too much.
Pink shoes or pink anything won't do that. It's a colour, nothing else.Seems the adults have a problem with it not the kids. Most 4 year olds I know of both sexes love pink, and at his age he'll soon grow out of his shoes anyway.
    Let him enjoy his childhood.
He is 4 for goodness sake!! He doesnt get a choice in colour of shoes!

Frightened of giving into his need??? Are you serious about that?

OP...YOU are the parent...he needs new shoes. You go get him functional, well fitted, multi purpose shoes. And that is it!

Give into Pink Shoes now and you will never be in control......But that is the general way these days anyway isnt it. "Awww...but he will be so upset not to have his ickle wickle pink shoes".

Too many mums and dads give into sentiment these days. No wonder we have a nation of Brats who want everything now!!
  • I agree with everyone here who is saying buy him the pink shoes. I still can't believe in this day and age people are still saying pink is for girls and blue is for boys. A colour can't determine if you are gay or not, and if he loves pink then thats it :) my little cousin who is four (i'm sixteen by the way) says pink is his favourite colour, and to be honest, he probably gets it from people around him like me, as i am always wearing dark pink and black. he also likes wearing clothes with skulls on them, as i am always wearing a little skull scarf. :)

i understand that you think he may get teased, but if it isnt the pink shoes, then it is going to be his hair, or his coat, or how many toys he has got...etc.

i quite like the idea of pink socks which has been mentioned and the shoes with a small amount of pink on.

whatever you decide, i hope if all works out.
you sound like a great mum, there is no need to worry :)
