I dont think you should buy your little boy pink shoes. I dont care what anyone says regarding gender free play - pink shoes on a boy just isnt right!
Whyy?! Why is it ok for fully grown teenager boys/men to wear pink but not little kids?! Who is the OPs little boy gonna be harming by wearing some pink shoes?
If you ask me, its adults who pass judgement on kids and make snidey comments, not other kids in the playground!
And if anyone thinks that wearing pink or playing with a pram will make him gay, then.. oh dear, they need a life lesson. Its not gonna make a boy feminine or girly or want to be a girl just because they want to play Mums and Dads or dressing up - its called being a child!!0 -
I completely agree Loz... I think you've more chance of turning him gay by making the colour a taboo...
Here's an interesting article from real magazine on the topic...
Pink for BoysHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
My son has a pink dolls pram and a pink handbag, loves pepper pig and upsy daisy and at our wedding wore a pink shirt does that make me a bad mother?
I think your comments are very insensitive, please try to have some respect for other people on the forums.
Why are her comments insensitive?Just because she has her own opinion which doesn't match yours? I think you should have some respect for the other people on the forum. The OP asked for our opinions and we have given them, there is no right or wrong it's just what each individual person feels comfortable with. At the moment I am saying that I wouldn't put pink shoes on my son but as I don't have a son yet my opinion may change if he asked me for pink shoes. We can only give an opinion from our own perspective at any given time.

A couple of months ago my hubby complained his trousers were getting a bit tight. I looked at them and realised they were a pair of my 13yo daughters Reebok trousers! He'd worn them all day and we never noticed until just before it was time for bed. My mum had been helping around the house and she'd put them away in his wardrobe. I wish I could wear my daughter's trousers. It's not fair!0 -
I ordered a pair of pink boots (new) from Ebay last night. Can't wait for them to arrive and hope they look as good as they do on the picture.
I've decided to buy him a pair of bright pink converse boots too (or copy if I can find a pair - any suggestions where to look?). He used to have a black pair and they were his favourite till he grew out of them - he called them daddy's shoes as his dad wears those too.
Just to clear things up, I don't think that any clothes/shoes/toys he has will influence whether he is gay or not. He is my first and does quite a lot of things that some might interpret as 'signs' but I think probably all kids are the same - many of the posts on here helped me realise that. I think it is more a reflection of his personality, and we love it. He really has us in stitches a lot of the time.0 -
Some boys/men are more interested in colours, style etc. than others. Same with women - I'm a tomboy but wearing docs doesn't make me a lesbian52% tight0
