I hate ironing, used to have a B&B so had to iron all bedding, which I do think is pointless!!
I ironing as little as possible, hang most of my stuff so it doesn't need doing, luckily my uniform stays crease free, so only tend to do ds nursery shirts!
I do have a pile, and iron what I want when I need it, otherwise it stays there

I probably make more work than I need to as I iron pj's, knickers & undies, socks, bedding a tea towels - which some people think is strange. :o

Seriously, how do you have the time and why do you do this!!!! My friend is the same and although I love her to bits I do think she's a little insane :)

Feel i should input being the op's sister and being the scruff bag i am!!!

I get home from work each morning pull out a top and jeans for example and iron..takes about 5 mins max (iron heats up while i faff)..job done really. Like i said to my sister i think i have too many clothes tbh as if i stuffed them ironed into my wardrobe they would look like they were never done! My hubby pulls something out changes his mind and folds it up in his typical man way so would undo all my hard work and dd the same doesnt wear the same thing for weeks apart so pointless.

I refuse to spend ages ironing for the sake of it and as far as i'm aware always look nealty turned out! (runs upstairs to iron best suit for when sis arrives tomorrow!!)

I guess each to their own!
  • I'm with you OP, I can't see your sister's logic at all. I would hate to have cupboards and wardrobes full of creased clothes. And it would stress me out to have to get the ironing board out every time I needed to go out. She is wasting a lot of time by doing it this way too.

Ironing is a religious experience: I do it on Sundays & say "Oh God..." a lot.

I iron clothes, a few table cloths and some pillow cases. DH joins in & irons his shirts as he is a twice-a-day man...clean shirts, that is :o

With 3 kids I dread to imagine how much time I would have wasted if I had ironed everything as MiL believed I should. Fortunately, my mother trained me from an early age to believe that it was not necessary to iron bedding, towels and underwear: I was, however, taught to fold things very neatly & put the freshly washed items at the bottom of the stack - & MiL never knew the difference :p
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

I rarely iron, my mum was an iron freak, loves it, drives me mad.
I only iron clothes that really need it as an when I will be wearing them.

Do you iron everything (that needs ironing) and then put it away or do you wash, dry and put away and then iron as and when you need it?

...and before anyone says it, I am well aware I could have done some ironing in the time it's taken to post this :rotfl:

    I iron & put away.

I'm a bit OCD too & I would hate to put crumpled clothes in the wardobes:o

Plus I'm not that fond of ironing that I want to do it every morning:eek:
