Have you considered getting yourself a steam press?Saves lots of time and results are very good. The best thing is you can sit down .

I was thinking along the same lines...as in locking wardrobes so the new clothes don't get piled in with the dirty ones  . Doesn't seem to matter what they r looking for but there always seem to be less clothes in the wardrobe than put in.

OK, i'm currently having an amusing 'argument' with my sister about our ironing habits.

I happened to comment that I had a 'pile' (meaning probably about 10 items) of thing to iron, but I haven't done them yet as quite frankly, can't be bothered (which has probably created more work as it's got creased more in The Pile). I tend to do my ironing on a Sunday while watching TV, there is never a lot as I live on my own! I have to iron work clothes though as work in an office and don't think i'd get away with crinkly trousers and shirts :p

Anyway, my sister said that she doesn't understand people who have loads of ironing to do and iron for the sake of it. Her argument is that some of it doesn't get worn for ages so she puts it away once washed and dried and when needed, pulls it out and irons it on the day.

I said that I don't see the logic in putting creased (whether mildy or badly) clothes away as I like to know that I can go to my wardrobe and pull out anything and know that it's ready to wear. I don't iron for the sake of it, only things that need doing. Some of my things rarely get worn, so I won't miss them for a week or so while they sit in the ironing pile of doom.

She says it takes 2 minutes each morning to do. I say that in total I spend about half an hour max a week doing everything. I personally know that I wouldn't do it in the morning (and wouldn't want my board up all the time!), but know that she has to be up early anyway.

Anyway, getting to the point (which isn't to take sides...honest)

Do you iron everything (that needs ironing) and then put it away or do you wash, dry and put away and then iron as and when you need it?

...and before anyone says it, I am well aware I could have done some ironing in the time it's taken to post this :rotfl:

My name is 3 and I have an ironing OCD. :o

I have a lot more items than 10 - being a family of 5.

I usually do the ironing Wednesday and Sunday for a good few hours each session. Then it all gets hung up in wardrobes.
My Mum has a washing cupboard and they iron when needed - which would drive me insane.

I probably make more work than I need to as I iron pj's, knickers & undies, socks, bedding a tea towels - which some people think is strange. :o

I like my extra time in bed in the morning so I iron in bulk and put it away.
OH hangs his up and irons a shirt every morning before work.
I hate ironing with a vengence and am now considering sending all bedding to get ironed (some covers and pillows are a !!!!!!!) and might sneak in a few blouses.
Can't under stand my mum- she even irons pants?

Well I have to admit I am a " put it away and iron it when needed " person.
I used to love ironing but not any more, hate , hate , hate it !!!

Older kids ( late teens early twenties ) iron their own stuff and hubby irons his own uniforms for work on sunday night to do him for the week.

I am not as bad as a friend though who does not own an iron!!! I have stayed wiht ehr a few times and was awkward especially after my things where in suitcase and needed a quick once over lol

I rarely iron anything. I have certain shirts for work that need ironing, but I iron them as I wear them. I couldn't imagine ironing a 'pile' of washing on a sunday the thought of that makes me

People are always shocked when I say I never iron - I don't look like I rolled out the washing basket by any means :rotfl:. I just hang things up VERY carefully and then they don't need to be ironed!!

I put it away when it's dry, then when I have time, pluck out what needs ironing and do it, which is very little if I can help it, mainly DD1's school uniform.

Otherwise, because of the amount of laundry I do, we would have baskets of dry, folded but unironed clothes on top of the tumble dryer which we would have to go through every time we needed clean clothes, and believe me, it gets messy:D
