I do agree and where a series of events starts to take place perhaps ebay should be investigating things a bit quicker, however I can't see any of us wanting to pay even an extra few pence on fees to pay for all this, a team of investigators would not come cheap.
How to prove who is crooked and who is not might also be a problem, we had a fairly regular user start a thread in the past week or so about having problems with incoming mail going adrift. If ebay somehow flagged up people who made a certain number of claims for loss against sellers that poster would have been flagged up and possibly banned. That would seem harsh especially as the poor regular was as frustrated as her sellers must be at no having anything delivered. My mother also has serious problems with her address, even Tesco direct failed to deliver something last November that apparently they had delivery confirmation for..so my poor mum would also be flagged up as a scammer..not that she uses ebayI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The trouble is that Paypal's security is terrible compared to Protx. This is why I prefer people to use Protx through my web site.
Then there is Paypal's seller protection policy that is full of loopholes so they don't have to pay up.
Both Paypal and Ebay charge far too much, so I think for the sake of the company's reputation they could afford to invest more money in security.0 -
RE: paypal
In the last two weeks we've one 2 chargebacks, and one SNAD.
Domestic
Fees at 1.9%+20p, in your account 4 days.
Barclycard fees 1.2-1.5%'ish, in your account in 35 days.
Mulit-Currency
Paypal 2.3%+20p
Barclycard 3-5.5%
Google Checkout - FAIL
Tempting fate here, but paypal is ok.0 -
If this is still within 6 months of posting you can make the claim yourself as long as you have a certificate of posting with the buyers address on it (postcode at least). Just get a claim form from Royal mail or download one from their site. Standard parcels before 6th April covered up to £36 of loss.
Thank you Soolin. I will put in a claim with RM.
I don't know why, but I thought that I needed the "buyers" co-operation with a RM claim, so I didn't bother.
I am well within the 6 months so I will give it a go!

Sometimes they do contact the buyer to see if item was received, but it is actually quite rare. If they do then just start a new thread and we'll go through the options of how to approach the Royal Mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not only is Paypal more expensive than Cardnet for credit card transactions. They also charge the same rate for debit cards, where Cardnet charge a flat rate of 35p per transaction (much better when most transactions through my site are high value).
I don't know where you get the 4 day thing from. It actually says on Paypal when you transfer the money that it will take between 5 and 7 working days, and it usually takes 7 rather than 5.
As for their seller protection......don't even get me started. Their policy is illegal.0 -
Paypal has been 3-5 days for while.
So Lloyds just charge you 35p a transaction and no %?
What's the settlement period?0 -

Well it was only recently that I had a moan at them because it is 3 days in the USA and 5 to 7 days here.ArmitageShanks wrote: »So Lloyds just charge you 35p a transaction and no %?

Yes, and 3 days.0 -
