I dont post very often, but I have to give credit, where credit is due.

I bought a big metal workbench (2.2m x 1m x 1.3m) on Ebay and then started to work out how to get it from Doncaster to Yarmouth. The lowest quote I had was £150. So I booked a transit van for Saturday to go and collect it myself. But now I dont need to go.

Firstly, thanks to this site for giving possible companies to try. Which included Shiply.
And thanks to Shiply for coming up with an incredible rate of of £65!!:T thus saving me the journey and at least a further £60 in fuel.

Big, heavy and valuable parcel within UK, any advise?
I'm an individual (don't run a company) and want to list professional BBQ on eBay plus need to specify the cost without knowing the delivery postcode (if that matters)

The parcel size is 180cm*90cm*40cm weight: 45kg
value £1000
any idea for reliable courier?

After checking the recommendations on the MSE page I tried Parcel2Go and Interparcel. Parcel2Go appeared to offer the cheapest solution but as my item was going to Scotland I used their online chat to confirm that it would not incur any extra conditions. They said as it was in the Highlands (actually 60 miles south-west of Glasgow!) I would have to use their Highlands service and it would cost £17.66. I queried this as the postcode I was sending to was not in their Highlands postcodes. I was told that was all they would offer!

So off to Interparcel, selected UPS Standard £8.04, item was collected at 3.50pm (same day) and delivered in Girvon, Scotland at 2pm the following day!

Need I say more?

Express Packages
Can set up daily pick up accounts with UPS. Rates can match if not beat SaleTrack.
Bookings are done online direct with UPS.
Email Express Packages for more details.
Ideal for 8+ a day.

FreightSearch
Seemingly now have the lowest import rates of any of the agents. All built in to their online system where you can select from over 200 countries to import from.

Great if you've got personal possessions to move around, and if you need to bring in samples from foreign manufactures (though the trick is to get them to pay!)

Sale Track Parcels
Will be launching Europe and International parcel services in the summer, and I have been assured their rates will be rock bottom.

This will all run off a new purpose built SaleTrack interface.

Interparcel
They are now offering FedEx UK services at fairly good rates. Though how many repeat customers they'll get I don't know, as FedEx UK is pants. Also interesting how FedEx have allowed them to resell, when my FedEx rep categorically said they are phasing out all resellers.

General Observations from me....
Parcel volume as dropped of a cliff it seems. Most of our DHL parcels on 48hr are delivered before 2pm next day, our Parcelforce driver is finished by late lunch and even with UPS letting Express offer some cracking rates through sub accounts speaks for it self.
