Hi
I bought a microwave on ebay, prior to bidding seller confirmed he was happy for me to get courier to collect and to wait for them but now seems unkeen to package the item.
Anyone any suggestions. Unpacked item is 27kg and approx 40x45x55 cm.
Courier charges seem ok but obviously item needs to be packed. Wondering if I can send seller a box and or packaging material?
Would several wraps of bubble wrap, extra think brown paper and loads of packing tape be sufficient? Would it be unreasonable to expect the seller to do this packaging? If they refuse are there any other delivery options that include packaging or carry unpackaged items?
Thanks
I sent one or two parcels packaged like that but don't recommend it. From personal experience I can only suggest TNT service from Interparcel.com which we used many times for large consignments and for packaged with bubble wrap but you can obviously try someone else, I think parcelforce service would be most reliable for this one but very expensive you cant try p4d.co.uk for parcelforce but as I said it won't be cheap.0 -
Hi there - I just had to share this one....
I offered to sell a brand new 42' plasma tv on behalf of a friend who won it in a work sales competition but doesn't have the first clue about selling online. I sold it on Amazon then had to source a courier to pick it up from my friend's house in Southampton and deliver it to the buyer 103 miles away in Leighton Buzzard.
So I went to :money:for advice.
It was a big old beast (119 x 33 x 80cm) and 42Kg, so the usual suspects (DHL & Parcelforce) didn't want to know and some of the big boys quoted over £100.
I then read about the bidding sites, Shipley and Boxby - after registering with both one evening, I had about 6 bids by mid morning the following day, ranging from £45 to £67 but the feedback for most was either very mixed or non-existent.
Just as I was beginning to despair, a bid for £36 came in on Shipley from a Birmingham company called Drivemaster, who charge per mile. They only had 2 feedbacks, but both were very positive and mentioned good communication. So I sent them a question about insurance and I get a reply within minutes. Up to £15,000 Goods in Transit cover was included in their quote price!
They collected the item within 2 hours of me accepting their bid, confirmed a delivery date of 2 days later and, sure enough, the TV arrived on time and in perfect condition. They even helped the buyer unpack it at the other end to check it was OK.
This is the first time I've ever used a courier, so I was 'bricking it' somewhat to be trusting a firm on the strength of 2 feedbacks with a £1000 TV that didn't even belong to me. But I needn't have worried, they were superb.
Apparently these guys do a regular run from Birmingham down to Cornwall and surrounding areas. There are a lot of cowboys out there, so I have no hesitation in recommending these guys - they deserve to succeed!
