frustratingly, interparcel require weight and measurement for every single booking. so thats a no go.

This is probably because some of the carriers are now starting to price on volume in the UK, as well as for overseas parcels.
  • good luck to them, i'm certainly not wasting my time with it. i can't think of a more annoying requirement when you've got a number of items to send out all varying sizes etc.

if i never have to do it again i'll be a happy man !

Unfortunately, i think it's more likely to go that way, partic with the pay as you go sites, and the resellers. Many resellers have been stung when they've taken their £10 or whatever of a customer, and then got an invoice for £30 for the same item because it was over the dimensions - they get you to state the dimensions on your booking so that they perhaps have some recourse to the people that delibrately understate measurements/weights to get a cheaper price (and believe me, there are unfortunatley quite a lot of them).

The major carriers are looking at ways to generate extra revenue without directly increasing the top line price, so the volumetric pricing is one thing. I think that TNT are going to be the first to bring this into mainline standard parcel pricing in the UK.

But i totally agree with you, it is a time consuming faff :)

  • so i'm seriously pondering going over to parcelforce, but in the meantime i have some money sitting in my saletrack account i may as well use up, and with that maybe give them another chance.

so today, i booked a collection VERY clearly. collection postcode in the email subject header, the full collection address in the email along with the account name (i have 2).

and what happens ? DHL have just turned up at the other collection address.

unbelievable. i await some kind of explanation.

i wonder what i will decide now tho....hmmmmmm, tough one..

    Has anyone used www.bananadoo.com
The TNT rates seem better than others but have to set up an account to be charged by direct debit every month.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have an account with them. They send you blank waybills with their account number on for all the services that you ask for - TNT DHL and others. You get the price from the Bdoo site and have to phone up the carrier yourself and make the booking. You get a monthly invoice from Bdoo and the amount is taken direct from your bank account. I've used them for 8 months or so without a problem. I normally check prices with Bdoo , interparcel and Pharos and whoever else is flavour of the month and for the sort of prices and weights i send Bdoo perhaps are cheapest 1 out of 10
quotes. The ball ache (compared with interparcel for instance where its all automated saving you phone calls and filling in waybills) makes it unattractive unless you are time rich. And yes for dos hat you need weights and sizes.

We have an account with them too.

Their TNT rates are excellent, though banding it around on here that they offer TNT services may not be a great idea. However it does mean their eastern Europe, Balkans & Mediterranean Islands rates are very good. Their DHL rates to the States are also just cheaper than transglobal. Still not quite good enough for us though.
