  • this is ridiculous.

i now have all the hassle of having to try and get a saletrack manifest printed out when i am not at the collection address today, and the website hasn't a clue what is going on. and one of there staff has emailed me with more confusion saying it was booked under my billing address yesterday.

i'm not sure how they came up with their booking procedure but it's dreadful, especially the fact that when you actually "book" you don't hear anything to confirm the booking has actually been made.

no wonder he has a smile on his face...
  • turns out, despite providing the postcode for the collection address, they booked it under my other account, which i am yet to even use or have any labels or manifests for.

Who else have you tried? Do you use an account or just pay as you go?"

    i've tried;

Parcelforce - until they completely screwed up 2 deliveries, and i had to (attempt to) make a claim.

DHL - but the sales woman wouldn't leave me alone, she kept chasing me as to how many bookings i may or may not have. plus the prices they gave me were appauling (£12.50 being the cheapest)

PPW - who i had good experiences with up until they went bust/were taken over/or whatever actually happened. luckily i never paid in advance.

DPD - after one booking they went the way of PPW (maybe its me ?)

Sale Track - mucked up a booking very early on despite me clearly putting the collection postcode on the request, and i have learnt very quickly to dislike the booking procedure and its limitations.

Freightsearch - STILL haven't heard back from a request for an account which I sent on Saturday.

yes you can book in advance, some services need you to print the labels, most dont, after booking for the first time it will ask you if you want to open an account you also get 5% off if you do.
  • frustratingly, interparcel require weight and measurement for every single booking. so thats a no go.

After reading this I thought i'd give them a try as I needed to send an 61x48x48 parcel insured for 1000 pounds to Sweden and didn't want to use DHL as their local depot is crap!

First off I tried their website which is easy enough to use but the price was a bit high for air fright so I emailed Hollie <hollie@pharosparcel.co.uk> who came straight back with a price of £40.49 which included up to £1000 insurance cover and VAT with UPS. The price without the extra insurance was
[FONT=&quot]£20.49 so insurance is works out at 2%.

Well what can I say, parcel was picked up on Friday and delivered to my home in central (read middle of nowhere) Sweden today (Wednesday).

  • well, i may parcelforce it.

okay its £8 so a little more expensive, but i don't have to weigh or measure, and unlike saletrack i can book in advance, select a timeslot, and i'll actually know whether my collection has been booked rather than emailing or leaving an answerphone message and hearing nothing until the item is actually collected.

You can also get another 5% off via Quidco / Topcahsback. :D
