They won't change their schedule just for you but you know, when you miss collection/ cannot wait for collection you can just drop it off to your local DHL depot. Done it few times myself...0

Could you leave it in a porch, shed or with a neighbour. Then if you do have to pop out leave a note on the door saying 'parcel in....'.
Certainly once you get to know your driver this is not a problem.
The other option is to manipulate cut-off times. For example freightsearch's booking cut-off is 1.30pm, so book after 1pm you know it will be in the afternoon. Just bear in mind booking very late does increase the chance of failed collections, especially in areas where the driver covers a large area.0 -
We've had a FedEx credit note for one of the parcels they tried charging us for. Just around another 16 to go!
If they've done one, should be no reason why the wouldn't do the rest.0 -
Try www.stuff2send.com
Upload your item, and let couriers etc make you offers. You then call those made offers, and check their credentials.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but there seem to be a lot of knowledgable postie types on here so maybe you can help me.
I'm trying to send a small format mixing desk to Brazil for a guy who's just had his blow up on him. It's a gift, and it's not worth a great deal (Cost me £50 a couple of years ago and is going over there without the PSU, so in theory is now worth even less) However, if you were to buy the equivalent new it would be somewhere in the region of £250-£300
Firstly, which courier would people reccommend for a cheap service to Brazil? Doesn't have to be quick, but cheap is good, as is reliable.
Secondly, what do i need to do in the way of labelling etc.. so that i don't break any export/import laws? I'm assuming i'm doing nothing wrong in estimating the current value at about £35 but I've no way of prooving what I originally paid for it. I've looked at the customs + excise website but wound up utterly confused.. think I probably need to attach an invoice so they can work out customs duties but as it's a gift there's nothing to invoice..
And there was I thinking giving stuff away would be simple..

Looking at Interparcel Economy (UPS) and Frieghtsearch (DHL) but does anyone know whether either/both of these carriers will deliver on a Saturday (destination is in London)?
Can't seem to find the info anywhere, grateful for any help0
