  • hi all,

it has been a while since i've dipped my toe in the courier market, but i will be needing to find a reliable set up soon.

i will be sending around 30 items a week, but it is important to me that i do not need to weigh of measure (other than make sure within limits).

it would also be beneficial for me to be able to book as late notice as possible, and that i can select some kind of time frame for the goods to be collected rather than "some time on tuesday" !

happy to pay that little bit extra for these, as all are time saving.

Well I decided to use Parcel Force. Sent it Wednesday, tracked as on its way to national hub in Coventry the same night....then nothing. Its hasn't been tracked arriving at the hub and its whereabouts is unknown. The depo where it was due to go to next have emailed Coventry, first on Saturday and again today (Monday). This parcel contained an antique chair which was worth £700 and I cannot claim a penny back should it not turn up. Anyone got any numbers for the national hub or any ideas?

The phone number for Parcelforce national hub is 02476213106. They may not help you because they don't like customers phoning the hub directly but it's worth a try. You should also contact the depot where it was sent from. I'm sure your aware Parcelforce insurance doesn't cover antiques over 100 years old. Hopefully it has just been held in the depot because it's oversize. I did warn you last week, it's not worth sending items that are over the max allowed size or weight because your parcel is more likely to be damaged & it will invalidate insurance. Did you book it with Parcelforce direct?

Through SaleTrack you can get a set pick up time with DHL. You have no cut-off, no yellow manifest to fill in, quick label creation/no weighing and prices between £4-5.75+vat.

That's who we use and in 5 months we haven't a single problem.

FreightSearch, payperparcel & shipping manager all offer similar services.
  • reg my post, most of this i can pretty much find myself but can someone breakdown for me the options i have whereby i don't have to weigh and measure please ?

  • If you sign up for an account with Parcelcheap you don't have to input parcel dimensions. They use DPD next day delivery & cut off time is 1pm for same day collection. I'm not aware of any reseller that allows you to specify a collection time. Best option is to befriend your local driver, if it's a regular pickup then you should be able to work out an approximate collection time.

I should have listened to you. Anyway, it has tracked this morning and is out for delivery today.. phew!
Payperparcel will probably be my next port of call as everyone seems to trust them (from what I can tell), only thing is it will cost me around £40 to send instead of £20 with Parcel Force, but at least I will be paying for the correct service for a parcel of this size.

From what I can see our full time spammer is working very hard on promoting his services.
Parcelcheap is the dodgiest website I have ever seen in my life.
  • I'm still waiting for you to add something of use to this thread Ludwip. Maybe you can help wheresmydoshat? let us know about another reseller website that allows you to make a booking without have to enter weight or dimensions? Ludwip if you have nothing useful to say why waste space. To declare every post I make as spam is ignorance. You fail to notice I'm recommending several websites that all provide good value & services.

If i'm spamming then you are the son of Einstein. To be honest after reading one of your previous posts (quoted below) it's obvious you have a high intellect so i'm sure it's easy for you to understand my point, or maybe not.

We used to send quite few parcels with PPW it was European Road than I believe DHL Europlus is something very similar or maybe even the same as it is road service as well, there were few parcels damaged. Parcels are always more likely to get damaged in road than in air service offered by FedEx for example but again air is much more expensive.

Ludwip I think this quote will go down in history, it's genius.:D you keep on proving to be a pointless waste of space!
  • surely i'm not the only person who doesn't want to measure and weigh everything i send out ??

With Sale Track you don't have to measure/weigh anything. As long as they are within these limits:

    28kg
    .17 cubic metres
    1.84m in length

FreightSearch, payperparcel & shipping manager will be the same but I think allow up to 31kg, but only 1.2m length (freightsearch 1.5m).
