wonder what effect this sort of thing will have on cheap resellers and the big couriersAlmost 700 jobs are set to be axed by a UK parcel carrier following a decision to restructure its delivery network, unions say.
Unions say job losses will be the result of site closures
The Usdaw and Unite unions said they were "devastated" by the announcement from Home Delivery Network Ltd that 686 jobs could be lost.
The unions said they were working with HDNL to minimise compulsory redundancies.
Irene Radigan of Usdaw said: "The home shopping sector has seen a steady decline over the last few years and these redundancies are not a direct result of the economic downturn."
"Our aim is to ensure that those people who are made redundant leave the business with the best chance of securing future employment."
Julia Long of Unite added: "The decision to close eight sites will have a devastating affect on our members and their families.
"We will be doing all we can within the consultation process to save as many jobs as we can."
The consultation process begins next week, with unions vowing to scrutinise the business case for the closures.0 -

The prices are far higher than other companies? Why would anyone choose to use this company? Did you include them just to make Frieghtsearch look better? Why have you not updated their prices? More questions than answers, surely this leaves it open to speculation. Please don't reply with Express Packages offer service over price as this is not an viable answer.

You know what i hate about the ebay parcel resellers.... the fact the feel the need to list the same service 100's or even 1000's of time. That really puts me off using them!0

Hi, I have watched these threads as an outsider for many months, and found the excellent advise from the likes of Armitage Shanks really useful - thank you.
I have arranged quite a lot of collections and deliveries using the recommended agents, using the DHL option where possible and have never experienced a problem - until now.
I have just arranged a next working day large size parcel delivery with DHL through Freight Search. I made the online booking without incident, the DHL driver duly arrived at the collection address, but refused the parcel because it didn't have a 'bar code' on it. Any ideas?. This is the first time I have used FS, all my other bookings have been with Direct Parcel (when they were going) and Inter Parcel. Always in the past the DHL driver has issued the relevant paperwork and labels at the point of collection, and I cannot understand why that is not the case this time. No documents were generated on the website at the time of the FS booking, nor emailed to us afterwards, so how could I have put a 'bar code' on the parcel?.
I have emailed Freight Search for an explanation, but I just wondered if any of the experts could shed any light on it in the meantime.

I'm not an expert but i had a collection with DHL freightsearch on Friday. Driver turned up with no paperwork so I filled in an airwaybill that i use for international dhl despatches and its gone OK. I think this is because freightsearch have switched from the homedelivery end of dhl to the international courier end of dhl and they operate different systems. The driver would have had blank airwaybills that you could have completed - my driver was happy but then we know each other from international parcels. It needs tidying up - please let us know what freightsearch say. The advantage of the international end of dhl is they tend to carry lighter smaller parcels with more care.
Hi, the collection was not actually from my address, but from a business premises that I deal with a lot. The DHL driver was not a familiar one to the business owner, and he just did not want to know once there was no 'bar code' - that was that, he just got in the van and went!. I hope Freight Search can sort this out - I am £27 down at the moment!.0 -
Hi, can somebody please advise what would be the cheapest deal for this:
Weight: 6 kg
Height: 15 cm
Length: 25 cm
Width: 20 cm
Destination: Republic Of Ireland
best deal I can see is Express Packages Deliveries @£15.99 as the other deals on the front page don't seem to be applicable, ie they have put the prices up??
Anybody know a better deal??
