    Afternoon ladies,

Have a busy morning. DD decided to join us in bed last night at 2 in the morning - I eventually kicked her out at 4 after she had battered me blue and stole the duvet. That started a screaming match and woke ds up who then thought it was morning and wanted his milk  . DD went back to sleep but was awake at 6 and started her whinging at us. DH lost his temper - send her back to her room which started her whailing at us again then woke her brother up. Needless to say I wasn't in a good mood !

Took kiddies up to my inlaws - they take them every Wednesday and passed my dad at the bus stop heading in for his treatment. He's very stubborn and won't let anyone help him. Got very upset by the time I got to my inlaws - think everything is just hitting home plus lack of sleep so feeling really drained today.

On top of that - joined Weight Watchers last night only to find I am 4 lbs heavier than when I was full term with dd  so that has got me really down as well.

Anyway - the day didn't look like it was going to get better - had to take my car into the garage as something had falled off the exhaust - guy who booked it in told me not to worry it wasn't anything important  - I mean something falls off your car and don't worry !!!!!! So have left car.

Wonderful mum took me to the local shopping centre and got some wonderful bargains from Monsoon for DD - I refuse to pay full price but managed to get some lovely hats, scarves and gloves for Xmas presents next year and a lovely party dress for dd. Mum also treated me to a tape measure from Monsoon that I've been eyeing up for ages but never able to justify. Took some stuff back to M&S and managed to get a Sportacus top for ds that had been reduced and also some snowman cookie sets for £1 so chuffed.

Went to Aldi and bought most of my fresh fruit and veg and got a delivery of all the other stuff from Mr T tonight.

Anyway - down to OS ! Have got baked potatoes for tea tonight and will make them with cheese and salsa courtesty of a recipe from Weight Watchers.

Hope everyone is having a good day and sorry for my ramblings.
So little money - so much time

Hello everyone and Happy New Year (I know it's a bit late to be saying this!).

I started my new job on Monday, it's a jobshare so finished my working week yesterday, which is a nice feeling. I'll be doing the ends of the weeks though when I get properlly started, after training etc. Enjoyed it and the people are really nice so it should be ok. Was also most pleased to discover that the bus stop is right outside the doors when I get there so no trailing around in the icy snow at that end at least.

OS wise...well I've fallen of the wagon a bit to tell you the truth. I haven't really cooked or baked anything for days...will have to get myself organised with it as it was nice to feel like I was eating properlly. Also my flat is in such a state that I daren't even look at it! We went away for five days over new year, came back on Fri, had a big meal with friends and family on Sat and then I spent all day Sun getting prepared for my new job and panicking that it was going to be horrible (I tend to imagine worse case scenarios). Then when I got in on Mon night I was exhausted from not sleeping all night (I was constantly looking at the clock and worrying that I was going to sleep in) so really early night on Mon (slept better but still woke up a few times thinking I'd slept in, which I didn't) then last night I just lay around watching tv, chatted to my sister and my parents on the phone for a while about my new job etc then had another early night. Today so far has been all about organising things that I should have prolly done before now. Still, got them sorted, had a late lunch then caught up on here (well only todays thread).

So, I hope everyone is ok and that you all had a wonderful new year (I did, we stayed with our dear friends and my sister in the middle of nowhere and had a great time). *huggles* to anyone who needs them or wants them.

I will get back on track eventually! I have started keeping a diary this year and it is really helping to keep me organised.

Take care all and keep warm x

you are a braver person than me heading for meadowhall in the sales. I try to keep well away. it gets so busy doesnt it?- good luck

The trick we have found with Meadowhell, is to go mid-week when kids are off school, get there half an hour before the shops open and go and have a breakfast/coffee, which means you can park close, and then go and do what you need to, and get out by 1-2 pm or as soon as it gets busy.

    Hi Everybody

Been busy this morning, ironing:eek: , just broke off for food, almost done. I hung some new curtains in the bedroom but didn't get them ironed:o - did not want to take them down again, so tried the Vertical ironing with the steam generator - total success :j :T :rotfl:

OS wise, the fridge is looking a bit more normal, with weird things to useup. Loads of Cheese, various sorts, some cream double thick, and single. pate, some venison shoulder steak, and some Italian and Spanish sliced Ham, not forgetting most of an Aldi cooked Ham joint. A bit of a mismash, so any suggestions??

We used up the Salmon Pie I made for Saturday on Monday, and the left over Sunday lunch yeserday, today there is bacon and sausage, so may have a tea time brunch, unless I get some other inspiration. I need to put the BM on, made a seeded loaf for DS before he went back, he is also very impressed with the bread, and how long it lasts (without preservatives!!)

Keeping away from shops as don't really need anything, stocked up with fresh veg at Netto on Monday.

((hugs)) to all - Take care

Not read the thread yet I'll finish unpacking, hoover round, make tea, hopefully do a bit of ironing & then I'll sit down with a cuppa for a good read ;) Hope everyone is having a good day & that the kids don't all come home from school as tired & hungry as my ds1 did yesterday :p after his first day back without the chance of all day grazing on food!

    Afternoon all,

It's not too bad here in NI this afternoon - dry and not too cold. I'm still suffering from my Christmas bug which has made me virtually deaf - which was a bit of a liability at work this morning - there were only 2 of us in - and I couldn't answer the phone.

Packed lunches - ham baps, ginger snaps, apples and a milk jelly for ds1 - ds2 wouldn't touch it.
Dinner - depends on what I find in the freezer - I know there's lamb mince in there so I might make a potato moussaka - noone eats aubergine apart from me, and potatoes are cheaper anyway and more seasonal.

Need to tidy the kitchen and living room in a mo - dh and ds2 are back at Cubs tonight - luckily I decided that Squirrels weren't restarting till next week. Might make a batch of Twink's hobnobs as well and some carrot and coriander soup for tomorrow's lunches.

Hope ds1 has got to grips with his maths today - we spent a fun half hour yesterday wrestling with %s into fractions.

Happy anniversary to Pooky and MrP - and hope you get a better night's sleep Jackie. I'm just hoping my ears will "pop" soon

    Have a good day

Mummy - I always write and thank for good customer service; I've even been asked if my letter can go on a company website as a testimonial. A lot of companies are really pleased to get good feedback. I will write and complain because I think I'll be doing others a favour - I might even do her a favour, too, because one day she'll probably get a smack in the gob if she isn't careful! Not from me, I hasten to add. She might just go too far with the wrong customer.

RedRuby - hope everything goes well with the court case.

Well, I've had a bit of a snooze so I'd better get on with some work. See you all later.

    Afternoon................((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))if you need one.

Very late posting to day, not sure what was going on this morning on the internet but could not get anything to load....so gave up.

We have had a flurry of snow, but it has not laid, still its bitter out, I went to B & Q to spend my £5 voucher from before Christmas.....2 bags of farmyard manure for the allotment, now sitting in the boot of the car.

I have washed and dried 3 loads of laundry, just one top to iron, the rest can be folded and put away, one advantage of having a laundry in the building....

Not much else done, been knitting this afternoon. Have to do the sauce for chicken fricassee for supper.

OH just had one slight DD this morning, none at all yesterday.............
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    :hello: Good afternoon!

So cold again today, but meant to be slightly warmer tomorrow, I think. I'm getting fed up of having to put so many clothes on :D I need to wash my hair and I keep putting it off until later as I really don't want to have to take my cardi and long-sleeved t-shirt off!

DH and I went to our town centre this morning (known in local accent as "gahn dahna Broadway" :p as he wanted to buy some nuts and seeds from Holland & Barrett, and I made an eyetest appointment with a "new" (to me)optician. I've been going to Boots Opticians for years, but when DH was diagnosed with diabetes he went to another one for his retinal screening and had an eyetest there too. We were both so impressed with them that as I'm nearly due for an eyetest anyway, and am a bit concerned about my left eye (huge "floaters", worse than in the other eye, and colours often look much less bright with the left eye too) I thought I'd give them a try as well. I think their glasses tend to be dearer though  Went to Millett's for some thick socks too :D

It was so strange to see Woolworth's closed after all these years. Ours closed before Christmas, but this was the first time I'd been at that end of the shopping centre since then.

Getting a few loads of washing done, and DW has been on. Dinner will be pasta with some bolognese sauce we brought back from France, which needs using soon. It's a big jar, so will freeze half of it :A

Money Saving Diva - Yes OF COURSE we missed you yesterday, you daft ha'porth  :D

Esor - glad you think you'll like your new job!:)

Cruiksl - My brother has prostate cancer too :( He's been having a bone scan this morning to make sure it hasn't spread to his bones, haven't heard from him yet (he lives in Germany). All being well he will start R/T in a week or so, I think. I was exasperated with him when I heard he had cancer as I'd been telling him for several years that he needed to get it checked out, but instead he just kept moaning about keep having to get up in the night:rolleyes: He's 68 next week, I'm 55, and we haven't any other brothers or sisters. We've always been quite close despite the age gap. Please God he and your Dad will be fine. (((HUGS))) My DD's neighbour has had prostate cancer for nearly 20 years and is still fine!

twink - Glad to know you are ok, was wondering if you were ill!

wannabe sybil - I loved your description of evil cat's expression when she sat on the peanut butter - that it would "clean toilets":rotfl: And tired mum, I think it was you that mentioned your tortie, Bertha? She sounds like my MIL's late cat!:D

halight - I hope you persuaded your cats to go out again in the end, though I suppose no-one could blame them for wanting to stay in the warm :D

Best wishes to all who are starting new jobs, or waiting to hear about interviews or training courses.

Get-well wishes to all who are ill, or have poorly children or pets.

((((HUGS)))) to all have have lost someone close, or are sad for another reason.

:rotfl: At Pooky's DD enjoying her unexpected slide!

this post has, as usual, ended up rather longer than I'd intended, so must go!

    Best wishes

    Afternoon all,

Just in from work and the house was freezing, the heating does not come on till 4, which is when we are normally in, so have put it on for an hour or so. It was -6 this morning, and -2 this afternoon, so still very cold. DD has gone off to town for an hour after school, so will pick her up later.

Still waiting to hear from my mum re the court case, she must still be in there, hopefully we will get good news, thanks for all the kind messages and pm's you are all :A

Jackie, sorry to hear you are not sleeping, I too have an old duvet under the bottom sheet, which really does help keep you warm, do you take a hot water bottle to bed ? this really helps too. When I was a little girl my parents owned a 200 yr old country pub, which had no heating, it was freezing, we use to wake to ice on the inside of the windows, I used to wear a hat to bed which also helped, thank goodness we now have central heating.

Well better get on, have good evenings and keep warm xx

    Happy Anniversary to the Pookys
