Afternoon chums ,feeling really fed-up at the moment as I can't seem to sleep through the night at all.I go to bed o.k. and have a read for half an hour then off to sleep to wake up around 2-3 in the morning as its so cold. Last night was about the 5th time in a row. It's worse than when my children were babies.Didn't mind so much then, as at least it was because they wanted feeding. It makes me feel so sleepy during the day.I do my best to stay awake then, or I'll never get off at night.
Just had a look at my local council site, and it seems that pensioners and all under 16 will get free swimming from now on at our local baths .If it wasn't so blooming cold and icy I would go and have a swim.
Still, I managed to get some books from the library yesterday for my essay for college so that should keep me quiet today.
Plus I have got the start of a cold coming so I'm not my usual jolly little self today .Oh well onwards and upwards I suppose, roll on the spring.
<<hugs>> to those who feel poorly or down.
    Take care all

Oh Jackie, I'm sorry you aren't sleeping, it's horrible when you wake in the night. Would an electric blanket help at all, not got one, but assume some can be left on low? On my bed I have a second duvet under the bottom sheet, and that does help to keep me cosy, I also wear big fluffy socks cos I wake up if my feet get cold! How about another duvet or blanket or throw over your top duvet? I also listen to the world service if I wake in the night, nice to hear a voice in the dark, but not so exciting that it keeps me awake!

    Hi everyone

Didn't have type to post yesterday and am still trying to catch up on the threads. Heaven knows how I will manage when I'm back at work next week. Can't access forums on work computer so will have to juggle when I get home. DH will never see me at this rate.

Am still getting up at 5am this week to prepare me for next week. Only thing this morning was that I was so tired, I came down, curled up like a cat in front of the fire and fell asleep for half an hour ! Can't be doing that next week. ha ha

Lunch today will be soup or cheese toasties. Dinner will be omelettes that DH makes (something I am rubbish at doing and is one of the only things that he can do, ideal all round hey) on his badminton nights as they are light enough for him to still run around the court, after having eaten. Am having cheese and some of the mushrooms I got and froze from Mr A yesterday.

Still cold here but nowhere near as bad as yesterday and I can't see any ice so that's good. I have problems sleeping like Jackie O but I have found lately its cos I am cold so if I am put a pair of socks on, its not too bad. Its's not too romantic either with me only having a new DH of 6 weeks but hey ....... Am off to the Crematorium later as it would have been my dad's birthday today. He's been gone 5 weeks now and I am still getting 'used' to it. Hey ho.

Will finishing mooching on here and then have a go at doing some scones.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.
  • Hi all!

Pooky - my OH always loves it when the cat is on the ironing pile despite the top item getting ginger fur all over it!
N9eav and Squiggly - loving the cold crisp weather but then I don't have to go out in it. Getting used to having cold hands though, this office is slightly chilly!

Redruby - hope that the court case goes well hon

I would ask if anyone missed me yesterday but I know they didn't.. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Bought my other half a beard trimmer thingy for Christmas and it can also be used to cut hair. It has a long setting of 12 mm and so to save money he actually let me have a go at using it and cutting his hair short. I was pretty nervous but figured I couldn't do much damage and ended up having a ball! And his hair looks great so that saved him £8 at the hair dressers. How very OS of us.:p

BM is on, WM is on, I am about to sort out my airing cupboard with the home help as you have to open it, throw things in and quickly shut the door before it all avalanches out!:rotfl:

Have done 3 layers on my pinata - the first one we had to dump cos it appears the balloon had a slow leak so it ended up a very mis-shapen lump after only two coats of papier mache.

I hope everyone has a good day today and smileyhug.gifto those who need them.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

JackieO - definitely try the bedsocks advice; cold feet really do stop you sleeping soundly.

Mummysaver - I do feel like complaining because she never pays the customer any attention and must infuriate a lot of people. And, let's face it, there'll be plenty of really nice people out there who could do her job and do it well. Hope your LOs enjoy their warm slippers!

Well, my second lot of scones are in the Remoska - they always turn out well so I'm glad I took the ten minutes to make them.

I've had my lunch but can't sit down for my half an hour break on the sofa, because the timer will go in ten minutes for me to take the scones out and I might doze off and they'll burn!

    See you later,

Kathy - write a letter in to the store manager, at the very least you should recieve a phone call asking exactly what has happened. Generally if people are fed up enough to write in then something has really gone wrong, those people who just like to whinge and whine about everything tend to just mutter a lot a customer service. I'm a great believer in thanking where appropriate as well, the Disney Store treated my dd3 like a superstar and the most important customer they'd every had when she was spending her £20 birthday money a couple of years ago, so I emailed their head office to say thank you and gave the names of the staff members, I received a lovely email back, and when we next went into the store the staff remembered dd and were really chuffed that we had bothered to thank them, head office had passed our thanks on!

Mummy thats great news. You do tend to get such bad customer service these days. I have worked in retail and like to think that makes me very aware of how to be a good customer.I always compliment people/companies on exceptional customer service. My personal beef is customers that put the money esp coins on the counter as it gives off the attitude of "you are just a pleb, pick my money up cos I cannot be bothered to treat you as a human and hand it to you politely" second to this is when they can't be bothered to break off their inane mobile chats to interact with you properly eg when you are trying to politely get them to sign things etc.

Have to say I was stunned about Disney. I heard a long time ago that if you are late more than 3 times you get fired and they are very rigid on all kinds of things.

Went to Sainsburys for milk and eggs and ended up doing a huge shop for about £30 as they had loads of offers on fruit, veg etc.

Had to phone DH to pick me up as could not possibly carry it all.

Rolls are prooving in the top oven and DH looked so disappointed the soup was not ready yet that I made us both an all day breakfast.

Got turkey leg which I will do in the slow cooker later then I can strip the meat off and make a curry or a pie with it.

Chicken thighs and drumsticks are half price at £1.50 so will cook these another day coated in spices with potato wedges. Got loads of veg to either have roasted in the Remoska or as more veg soup in the slow cooker.

DH has "tidied away" my food processor so have bought frozen pastry instead to make a huge quiche or Homity pie later in the week.

Might make a home made fruit loaf later if I can tear myself away from here.

My sig started as a joke but not so sure now.;)

    Hugs
