    Morning ,
Its freezing here again but like N9eav and a few others I prefer it cold and frosty as long as its dry. They used to say that it was the frost that killed all the germs off,(so my mum said) soooo we should all be nice and healthy this year ;)
Well I am off to the dentist in a mo, O what joy
Dinner is shepherds pie tonight, one of my favourites.
I am getting the LOOK again

I used to get that frequently :rotfl: One of my late MiL's sayings was Lucky soup. i.e you are lucky you are getting any at all. She used that when bringing up 7 boys and monely was really really short.

You sound sooo organised and busy. I really have to shake myself hard when I get in at night to get anything done, especially in the winter. It makes me want to be a little furry animal and hibernate.

Talking of motivation, I should really go get some work done before I get fired.

Mudgekin, if I do half of that I'll be lucky. might print list off and put it on the counter. When dd was younger and she thought she had too much to do, we would make a list and factor in approx timings for stuff...e.g 20 mins maths, so long for a shower, so long to do music pract etc etc and then she could see that there was more than enough time. Might have to try this myself! WIll have to drag myself down first of all though!

    Morning peeps

It`s very dark here for this time in the morning, it looks so miserable. I`ve not been outside yet but i shall be going shortly to take the monsters for their walk. It looks like it may have rained in the night, i`m another one who would rather have everything cold and crisp outside rather than wet and soggy.

All the morning work is done, the bm is finished and empty, the wm has finished and all the laundry is dying on the radiator airers and the dw is now empty too.

Tea tonight is salad even though it is so cold. I`m back at w&rk today after some much needed time off and although i would much rather stay home it`s nice to be going back with all the housework done and all the bits and bobs out of the way.

I`m watching what i eat now - a friend at w*rk and i are both going to do a healthy eating regime for a while and see if we can lose the Christmas pounds and hopefully a bit more too. It`s always easier when someone else is doing it too. We should be wor*ing together for a couple of weeks now so it will be interesting :rotfl: I`ve made soft cheese and yogurt and have fruit in for snacks so fingers crossed. I may even nip to the shops later for more beetroot as i can`t seem to stop eating it lol.

Redruby - I have my fingers crossed for the outcome of the court case, i hope that everything goes well for you and your family.

Kaat_lady - You are a braver woman than i going to Meadowhall at sale time. Hope that you get some bargains.

I shall now brave the cold and walk the houndies. Catch up later guys.

    Have a good day everyone.

Dough for bread rolls is in the panny and potato and leek soup is in the slow cooker. Washing machine is on and am goin to brave the cold and take some books to the charity shop.

Will have to tell DH the soup will not be ready till after 3 or else he will scoff the lot.

He seems to regard the slow cooker as "magic" and what comes out of it as just for him raher than for four - or five - or six of us depending wether DDs are home or not!

Sometimes I have to surrepticiously ladle several helpings into a bowl and hide it in the microwave or he would eat the lot!!!

Have just scolded him for taking butter out of the freezer to be helpful!!!!!

What is helpful about me thinking I have butter for emergencies like strikes or delivery problems- going to the freezer happily to find he has used it up because he is to lazy to actually look in the fridge!!!!!! Grrrh!!!!

Might treat myself to a coffee and scone at the tea shop after going to the charity shop.

If he says one more time that he was trying to be helpful or else informs me proudly that he has eaten something up for me - when it was suppossed to feed all of us I will get nasty!!

Well, even nastier than usual as I hate cold weather and feel like curling up in bed with a book and a hot water bottle.

    Hugs and see you later.

    Good morning all!

It is absolutely perishing here today! The roads were dreadful when I came home this morning as well, even the main ones. I even got stopped by the police, you know how you suddenly start to go through the mental checklist, speeding, lights, tyres, oh lord please let me not have muddled up the date of my tax disc renewal! Anyway he just said that nobody was out and about driving in these conditions, implying nobody sensible anyway lol, and so they were pulling over anyone who was to find out why! Sadly, or not I guess, I had no nefarious purpose, I was on my way home from work! Didn't much fancy their job though, driving around on icy roads and getting out of the car to find out what people were doing.

When I got home there was a dreadful wailing noise in the back garden, I opened the window in case my boy cat was up to something, both cats can make a terrible racket if they want to come in! No Tom outside though and I couldn't see anything either, girl cat and dog were fast asleep. Noise carried on though intermittently throughout the next couple of hours, made the dog cry in the end! I still am no wiser as to what it was, didn't sound like a fox?

Anyway this morning I've put dough in bm for rolls, did a loaf last night, and have got some pastry and turkey out of the freezer, will do pies for dinner with lots of mash, carrots and onion gravy. Rib sticking filling food, will have to think of a pud, prob fruit crumble, best not make a pie from that as well!

Lunch was packed for the kids: cheese rolls, muffins, raisins, carrot sticks, jellies with strawberries in. Mine will be leftover veg stew from yesterday - it was delicious!

Pots are all washed and away, bits and bobs tidied, just need to hoover now, but will do that in a bit after I've brushed the dog!

Hugs to all in need, I'm off to make another cuppa and then I shall read back and catch up! xx

    Good morning all

My gosh it's might chilly agian today - thermometer is reading -2  It was -6 when we got up at 6am though so I guess it's a bit better! Still got quite abit of snow here which has turned into a skating rink - DD2 stepped onto the drive and slid comically to the bottom of it looking bemused.....then uttered the word "cooooooooool" - What's the betting she comes home with more bumps and bruises and holes in her trousers by the end of the day.

It's our 7th Wedding Anniversary today, we don't do the card/pressie thing - but we will be having a nice bottle of wine this evening and a game of backgammon to celebrate (we know how to live on the edge!! :D )

I'm lacking enthusiasm in the "big jobs" side of housework at the moment, I've plenty to do but just not in the mood for it - so I shall leave it till I am, or doubtless I'll break something. I've swished and swiped the kitchen, 2 loads of washings are languishing on the rads and the beds were aired and remade.

Home made cheesy turkey burgers for tea with wedges, onion rings and chilli corn cobs...followed by nana and chocolate muffins and custard.

Hope you all have a fab day.

  • morning all

woke up this morning feeling really blue - expected some good news last night and was very disappointed to hear that its not going to happen so went to bed a bit glum. then around midnight i heard a weid noise and ran downstairs to find the poor dog trying to dig his way outside lol - let him out and he puked up his dinner - think he had lain too close to the fire for too long after eating

so sat up and had a cup of tea and refilled hwb then went back to bed

i have sorted out birds and animals etc this morning and i really should be havinbg a HUGE tidy up as i have been a bit lazy for two days - also i am finally back at work after a long break tomorrow so i do need to get teh house organised

sc is on ( sausage casserole thingy i made up as i went along) - i feel like i need to put my feet in it theyre like blocks of ice - it seemed relatively mild when i woke up but temp seems to have plummeted again

anyway off to try and fix the dyson and then hoover - ( i hate my dyson and will never have another grrr)

enjoy your day - positive vibes to all who need them - and stay warm

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Pooky!

Mudgekin - we have a local Somerfield Express filling station. Most of the staff there are polite but there's one youngster who would rather talk to the rest of the staff than serve the customers. She never concentrates on the job or even bothers to look at you when she's 'serving' you. I was in there with my DH recently; he asked for a receipt for his fuel and she was so intrigued by what her colleague was saying that she didn't hear him. He waited at the till until she finally looked at him and said 'yeah?' He said 'I'd like my receipt, please'. She shot him such a sulky look and said 'yeah, alright!' in that voice that only teenagers use when they've been told by their Mum to do a nasty chore. Consequently, her name is now 'Yeah Alright'. I really don't know why the managers put up with it. Rant over!

Well, I've been to work and it was freezing cold in there so I was glad I wore a vest and took a thick cardi. It was fairly busy but quite steady, so not too bad. I had wickedly set the heating to come on haf an hour before I came home so it's nice and warm here, and I'd leaned my slippers up against the radiator, so my tootsies are toasty warm now! I'm going to put DH's slippers there for when he gets back from work tonight! What an exciting life we lead!

Anyway, hope all is well. I'm going to make some Remoska scones in a minute because we've run out of cakey things, then I shall have lunch and then get on with some typing I need to do.

    See you all later.

Redruby - hope that the court case goes well, and that there is a suitable and just outcome.

Pooky - congratulations on your anniversary! You watch yourself playing backgammon, life on the edge can be a dangerous thing lol!

Brokenwings - hope something lovely happens to make you smile today x

Kathy - I am going to follow your example and make our lives more exciting too - I've put the kids slippers under the rad in the hallway for when they get home! LOL about the Somerfield lass, have you tried complaining about her? We take complaints about service really seriously at work.

Just dug out a nice warm jumper to wear with my uniform tonight - no proper heating at work at the mo! Surely that can't be right for a supermarket! On the plus side and work related, the postie has just bought me a letter telling me that some shares have matured, will be popping them into an ISA, woohoo, one of my resolutions this year was to get some decent savings that could be used for treats next year, rather than emergency savings, looks like I'm off to a flying start! More fab news as well, the camera I bought for ds before we went to Scotland in half term no longer turns on, unfortunately I had lost my reciept, I had bought it at work though, and I know that we can trace old receipts with a lot of effort, so was expecting huge sighs and moans, but no, apparently you don't need a reciept to return stuff! Shame that the camera was out of stock so I couldn't get a replacement, but I did get a full refund! That isn't heading into the savings fund though, that will be to buy us a couple of nice treats for Friday, the kids are cooking me a birthday dinner, so it'd be nice to have a film or perhaps a new wii game that we can all giggle about!
