A follow-up from my dealings with Bebe Amor. I told the company that I would do this if they provided some service and so.....
After many attempts to contact BA by phone and email (with limited success to 'sales' but to no apparent benefit), eventually I managed to get an email response from Lisa. Lisa has been identified several times in these pages and I had advised her that her reputation was seen to be helpful on the face of it but ineffective.
Anyway, I said that I had reported the company to Mastercard and East of England Trading Standards and that didn't seem to do much. Then I mentioned frustration that even with being an employee of BERR (ex DTI) I felt impotent at being able to get the company to act honourably. Next I was told that the goods were due to be received by the company in a week's time but frankly I couldn't believe that. So I sent them the email below on 18 Feb.
"Lisa
Thanks for the response.
We were promised delivery within 7-10 working days and even on our modified order, that passed last Friday and so you are in breach of contract. I would like that refund immediately please, back to the credit card that I used to purchase the items and I would like confirmation by email or phone when that has been done. At that point I will contact Mastercard to ensure that the refund has been confirmed by them."
Lisa responded soon after to say that I should see a refund on my credit card within 3-5 days and in fairness, that payment was credited to my account on the same day.
So at last we received some good service so thanks to Lisa for that - my wife thinks that these are made-up names so draw your own conclusions. I have contacted Mastercard so that they halt the disputed payment process but I hope that Trading Standards take matters further to identify if this company is providing a fair service.
In summary then, this company cannot be trusted. Even if they are trying to provide a service (and possibly do that for a number of customers - who's to know?), certainly I would discourage anyone to buy anything from them until they have cleaned up their act, employed some competent ordering systems and help their own put-upon staff not to suffer the misery of continually being harassed by us poor punters who just want our goods.
Finally, I was able to find the car seats through Amazon a few £s more expensive but they turned up within 36 hours of the order being placed. It's a stunning victory for the big-boys and that gives me no pleasure as a supporter of small businesses. As a footnote, I did try to obtain the same car seats from 2 other small suppliers (Glasgow Pram Centre and Baby Zoop) but neither had stocks even though their website suggested that they did. So it leaves the impression that small suppliers of such goods should be steered clear of if either you can't afford to lose the money or you have a pressing target date such as a child's birth! It's depressing that only Kiddicare come to mind as being reliable. THE END!

I have now received another email from Lisa stating that the refund has definitely been made....I have asked on 4 occasions to be provided with a credit reference number but have been told that this is not possible as the credit was done through Protx. Does anyone know if this is correct...Is there anyway I can check that this has been completed?0
-
I got a reference number when i called yday, no reason why they shouldnt have one for you...
I called my credit card who said it was pending and it went in that night at midnight!
Nick so glad u sorted that out!
My friend bought from Glasgow pram centre and got it 2 days later, i ordered and have to wait 2 weeks but they have emailed/written and i spoke to someone on the phone so I dont mind if they actually let you know whats happening!
I hope we all get things sorted soon!0 -
Just managed to speak to someone at Protx and they advised that could see that Bebe Amour have processed my 3 credits:T I will only believe it when I receive confirmation from my bank that the money is IN MY ACCOUNT...I promise to keep those of you still waiting updated (early next week). I've learn't a value lesson and will be ordering my good from a store that I can collect in person....GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.0

That response is consistent with what Lisa told me and was borne out by Mastercard. I asked Lisa what card she was refunding and she replied that she didn't know and that all she needed to do was to reverse the transaction and the correct detail would follow through to your credit card account. That worked in my case.
Incidentally Mastercard told me that, from the date the company tell you that they are refunding your account, they have 30 days in which to get the money into your account.

Update on my situation... despite sending 4 emails requesting a refund as i ordered 6 wks ago- i still haven't received a response and have been unsuccessful in contacting them on the phone. I have now spoke to my bank (Halifax) and completed the paperwork for the visa debit chargeback scheme in the hope that i can get my money back0

Becuase I have been lied to soooooooooooooooooo many times and been promised deliveries were in progress, refunds had been made (previously)...it's so hard to believe anything that they say (whether on the phone or even via email). I'm still puzzled as to why this company chooses to operate this way as they would save themselves and their customers a lot of heartache and frustration.... All I can say...BE PERSISTANT AND DON'T GIVE. I didn't and I know a few others pursued it until they received their refunds....Fingers crossed that my money hits my account next week!!!0

Hi another one to the hundreds of people that are angry with this company.
I placed an order in january for a pram to be then told it will take an additional 3-5 working days delivery, was annoyed about this and emailed them to let them know, i had no response (should of thought this is not a good sign) most sites state awaiting stock or something or out of stock, something at least, i did give them this time and a bit more as it snowed then thought hang on tesco and my work are still getting stock why cant they deliver.
I emailed them to see were stock was no reply also tried phoning engaged or did not pick up, so i asked for refund - nothing, emailed through google got a response"lisa" said she will refund on to my card 3-5 days, went to my bank nothing bank said should be showing but nothing. emailed, phoned, phoned, emailed phoned, phoned, emailed, phoned, emailed you get the picture finally got a response though google email, again, A cheque has already been sent to you, you should receive a cheque in the post. That was wednesday gone, where is it!, not happy about cheque as i paid by card, so contacted google for help (not great help i must say but still something as they cant do much). emailed Bebe-Amor to say not happy with this and advised them i want one or the other by monday as my husband and i have booked a day of work on wednesday and am taking a 2 hour drive each way to get one or the other even if this does mean he has to do this on his birthday.
Wish me luck...0 -
Arrrrgggh!!! We too have been awaiting delivery of furniture that we ordered at the beginning of January. Since then, when I have got through to them, I have had broken promise after broken promise and lie after lie.
My baby has now been born - on 2nd Feb- and we have no where to change him or put his clothes. I had a caesarean section and so really need the changing table to avoid bending over - and it makes me so mad to read on their website how they spout on about customer care and fast delivery when the reality is they dont give a s**t.
I emailed them on Friday to say that they have 7 days to sort out our order or I will report them to trading standards and watchdog - I also said I was going to post on here so I really hope that they read it and realise the damage and pain that they are causing people at such an emotional and vulnerable time in their lives.
Then someone rang me on Monday from "Greens Delivery" to say that the furniture would be delivered and assembled on Thursday. I checked on the phone that they would assemble it as well and they assured me they would.
Well - to my complete amazement they did deliver it - but it was one man by himself who told me that he was just dropping it off and that someone else was following an hour behind to assemble it. I told him I had zero confidence that this would happen and that Bebe Amor were a disgrace. He acted surprised and said that this was the first time he had delivered for them. As I have a 2 week old I couldnt be bothered to argue with him.
Well - no one turned up - so we now have to assemble ourselves. I realise how lucky we are to actually receive the furniture and not have to speak to these bar stewards ever again on the phone but the lies make me so mad!!!
As a parting shot I rang Greens this morning. I was put through to someone who told me that the furniture assembly firm had gone into administration so there was no way someone would come out and assemble our furniture.
He told me that the driver shouldnt have said that someone would and asked me what he looked like so he could have a word with him (so they dont know who is delivering for them??!!)
I asked him if the delivery and assembly firm and bebe amor were all owned by the same person and he admitted they were!! So I told him what I thought about how disgusting it is what they are doing to people and that I was going to report them to trading standards and watchdog for the non assembly as this is what we had ordered - and that I knew plenty of others were doing the same. For the record - as they are owned by the same people - the number for Greens is 01484 846630- so if you cant get through to Bebe Amor why not give them a ring and see if they would be kind enough to pass a message on to their colleagues!!!
I notice that tonight they are still offering their assembly service - DO NOT BUY FROM BEBE AMOR UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DECEIVED, MISLED AND LIED TO!2007 Comping challenge wins so far: April: 1 pair James tickets, May: 1 pair VIP tickets to Knowsley Hall Music Festival, 1 pair Justin Timberlake tickets, lipsy necklace, June: 1 pair cornershop tickets
