  • I informed MBNA that I was bankrupt about 10 days ago and received a call from RMA this evening. They asked me to confirm security questions with them and I just kept asking why they were contacting me - He said he couldn't talkt to me until I confirmed security details. We reached an impasse pretty quickly!

They said I would be receiving a letter from them. I do seem to be receiving an awful lot of mail at the moment!

    Hi

Just stop them quote your BR number and tell them to contact the OR.

it can take 6 weeks for the OR to mail your creditors but

Then remind them that repeated calls to a BR who has the protection of the court, is haressment and if you hear from them again you will report them.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I just wondered why I should have to tell them as well when I've already told MBNA, who are the actual creditors. It's rather annoying!

In actual fact, TK, you don't need to tell anybody. It is the responsibility of the Official Receiver to inform your creditors of your bankruptcy. However, this does, often, take time and most people will tell their creditors/dcas simply to get them off of their backs. In my case, MBNA hounded me for three months into my bankruptcy period, even though I had informed them of my bankruptcy.
If they continue to call, log all calls - do not reply to their questions, and report them to Trading Standards for harassment.

  • I experienced the same problem with MBNA & RMA. RMA called me twice a day until I got fed up and didn’t answer the calls from them. When I spoke to MBNA and confirmed a payment etc. I would receive a call from RMA and they didn’t know anything about my conversation with MBNA.
The calls from RMA have stopped now.

I have had exactly the same problem with RMA / MBNA. I have spoken to them about 4 times ina week telling them that I am going on a DMP etc etc and that I have sent the letter. They were ringing my house 2 - 3 times a day and whilst I wasn't fielding the calls, it was getting very stressful.

They also offerred me a consolidation loan, don't you think I tried that before it got to this stage and at a reasonable rate of interest not what they were offering.

I know I owe these people and I am committed to pay through the DMP, but i tried everything else before I went down this route. They had put my interest up to about 30%, when i tried to find this on any statements I couldn't. They were even less than helpful about reducing this when I started struggling with the repayments.

grrrrrr - they all make me mad!!

    Hi

if you took this card out before April 2007, have you donme a CCA request? MBNA are notorious for not doing them properly.

And you can write and instruct them to remove your telephone number from their records, and report them to the Io if they do not sort it out.
