  • Rikkayla - DON'T PANIC!

"Calling" to them means a phone call, they want you to be there to answer the phone so that they can scare you. I bet it's signed by a Mr Green/Brown/pick a colour. Did it have nice sunflowers on it? We've all had those, some have even started a collection!

If they do call refuse to answer the security questions and tell them everything must be kept in writing.

Above all don't let them scare you, no one has a right to do that to you.

Decided to tackle my cc debts today as the self employed building business is a bit quiet for some reason, however first call to-
MBNA debt - £5000ish min payment £145 after explaining my situation, I was given 3 months breathing space of late fees etc and told to pay only what i can afford...COOL.

AMEX debt - £2800 . Personally love the french, however trying to explain my circumstances and get some help from sombody who cannot speak english is probably not the best start, He told me that my card will be cancelled and he will sign me up for a debt managment program or I can call another departmant of amex to disuss it further.I took the phone somebody else option...result...got t speak to sombody who i can talk to and understands what i am saying.
The result of the call was that amex have a 90day cycle on the account which means as my payment is over due by 10 days already, I have until 4th feb to pay 2 months min payments or the accout wll close and pass on to a debt collecting agency, however he gave another option of a cheme called REGAIN, being small monthly paymnts after seeing all my outgoings statents etc...

I know this is a bit long winded but does anyone have any advice on this?
    Thanks
  • I had an unauthorised overdraft from an old Barclays account, the only reason I went overdrawn was due to unlawful bank charges added to my account, in excess of 250 pounds worth of charges.

It has since been sent to RMA and upto a few weeks ago I was getting called on average 10 times a day regular letters, even after I had spoke to them they keep calling me. I have since been made redundant and am now claiming benefits and have started paying them regular payments based on what I can afford, but they still keep hassling me asking me for more money and sending letters which now I ignore and make a payment of a one pound a month to them just incase they try to say I ain't made no attempt to pay them, so pay what you can afford and do not be bullied by these people.

One of there advisors even said to me how would your work like to know about your debt!!!!

Needless to say I went balistic at her and told her to tell my work my, and I made it clear if they did I would report them under data protection laws, as you can expect she went quiet and tried to back track on her comments saying I took it out of context.

If you get them chasing you I would refuse to speak to them over the phone and only deal with them by letter and request your number be removed from there system or ask for details of your account under data protection.

they are a under hand nasty company who hassle people, they don't listen to reason and don't care if you can't eat all they want is there pieces of silver.

They do, however, have a duty of care to ensure that any company, whose services they employ, act in a professional manner and within the confines of both the Law and Government (in this case OFT) guidelines.

  • Just started being contacted by RMA about MBNA credit card and wanting to reduce my payments. Had nervous breakdown lost job can't pay payments other than pro-rata payments. MBNA not replied to my letter to tell me if accepting my offer or not after refusing to pay out on payment protection insurance - apparently depression and anxiety are not an illness much to the suprise of my Doctor when I told her. Had no letter from MBNA telling me they were passing on to Debt Collector either.Have only been in contact with MBNA since February. I have never heard such rude unhelpful arrogant and insensitive people as RMA. I have requested that they only contact me by letter because of my illness yet I receive 2 calls a day at present and a text message. I do not speak to them. How these people are trained is a mystery to me are they trained by people like the Krays? How anyone could be proud to work for a company like this is beyond comprehension they obviously don't have souls or require sleep. I now have all guns blazing, I am not standing for this from some two-bit company that call themselves a debt recovery agency - Bully is what they should be listed under.

Please make a formal compalaint and ask your doctor for a note which you can send registered mail. The OFT will have them for haressment.

The OFT are finally acting. Last year they warned about one quarter of DCas about their behaviour and they have just put 1st credit on notice.

So it is important that you complain. it is anonymous unless you choose to let the OFT use your case.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Thanks for the information. I am now going to start writing my complaint. All guns still blazing.
