  • No one will turn up, what they really mean is that someone will phone you between those times. It's their way of getting around people refusing to talk to them because the call was "out of the blue". Just ignore it, if you are in and want to talk to them then just read the letter from Abbey out and tell them you will only be dealing with Abbey.

Thanks Chocmonster7 for your advice, it`s good to talk to you. Whenever rma have called if I`m able to talk to them I have been and even told them when I`d made payments so they stopped calling me, but I also told them then I was dealing with Abbey direct as rma said any payments I`ve made to abbey don`t show up on their systems for a few days also they did`nt know that Abbey had frozen my interest so I could get back up to date with my payments. I absolutely panicked when I saw the card through the post from rma and had vision`s of them turning up at my door demanding (I was`nt going to let them in).

Barclaycard will more than likely not receive any money at all from this shower, so its a case of winner takes all.

I am owe Barclays 6,000GBP and I'm paying it back to RMA 100 per month. Are you saying I should stop paying it?
  • This company have been trying to contact me for some time. However I do not have a debt, but they used my mobile to make contact.

I have done some digging and it appears that this company have by means unknown obtained my mobile number in an attempt to contact a family member through me.

I cannot at this stage disclose any more details of this possible illegal act but once I have more I will post it here.

  • There is more to this story which hopefully I will know more today..Once I do know more \i will place my findings here.

This company were working on behalf of MBNA. They have sent text messages to my phone to contact some one in my family. This has been going on for some months. I originally spoke to MBNA who denied they had my mobile number on their system an assured me at no point had they contacted either directly or via a third party. However the other night I recieved a text message to my phone asking the account holder to call 08708 707854 and to quote a given 7 digit code.

I called this number to see why this company were trying to make third party contacts. I spoke to a male who asumed I was the person they were trying to trace. He asked for my address so I gave him him a complete made up address. He asked my date of birth, again I gave him a made up date then he asked me to confirm my password. I made that up too and to my complete amazement this operative said I had passed the security checks and disclosed to me details of someone elses account.

The actions of this male were quite frankly amazing and any wonder why credit card and ID theft is so prevalent. I made some more enquires into this company and managed to make contact with their Data Compliance Officer and made a formal complaint regarding the harasment from this company and their inability to ensure the safety of customers data.

The end result being that they claim my number was supplied by MBNA a company I have no dealing with and that they had now removed my number from thier system.

MBNA have however denied having my number so this particular anomaly is still unclear.

The compliance officer was very helpful but I have made my feelings quite clear about this company. She asked me not to publish her name which i will comply with her request, however I have told her in no uncertain terms that should this matter raise it's head again I will disclose all names of the operatives spoken to plus report this to the FSA.

Just to put this into perspective the amount of money they were chasing was..88 pence, yes thats right EIGHTY EIGHTY PENCE...
  • A dear friend of mine had a simular experience a few weeks ago, these guys are really bad, and when i spoke to amex telling them how my client is being treated they were shocked and asked for written letter. i advised amex that my client has been informed RMO bought the debt from amex, they said they have not. They allowed my client to make a one off payment to AMEX for half the amount with the rest payable next month. I have paid my Amex bill with 25p over (so they still need to send me my bill). i have also advised all my friends, family and colleagues to do the same (around 100 persons so far) to do the same untill Amex stop dealing with this company. It is true that if enough people do the same amex wll stop using this company. Write to Amex discribing the actions of RMO they have a procedure for complaints and are required under the FSA to act within a certain timframe. Do not just sit idle YOU CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. RMA are also trading under the name NCO EUROPE

  • I have to respond the thread as my partner has just started recieving calls from this bunch of unethical idiots. His AMEX debt has been passed to them and I have never encountered such smarmy, jobsworthy, commission based fools before.

I have just hung up on the most recent caller (I have authority to speak about his account) as my partner (and I) refused to confirm data protection details - my partner is visiting the CAB on monday and he had already told this to the caller yesterday, but someone still phoned back tonight insisting that he something VERY important to tell my partner. As we refused to complete the security check he couldn't go any further but proceeded for almost ten minutes to have a verbal slanging match with me acusing me of everything from not taking this seriously - I do ! to telling me that I didn't understand the powers that he has - I do by the way as I worked collecting debt for some time when I was younger - and I know that when the 'manager' comes on the phone it is usually the friend of the person you are speaking to, in fact ask the next caller that if they pass you to the 'manager' after holding the line for a while!

Anyway rant over - needless to say we shall not be speaking to these morons the next time they call!

I had my Barclaycard debt passed to RMA and after months of harrassment - even when I was paying back an amount I could afford - I requested a copy of my credit agreement to no reply. The calls stopped but now they have passed the debt on to Robinson Day!!!

    Bunch of idiots!!
