So a "Normal" OAP who got the £250 plus the £60 but is not on pension credit, will not get the cold weather payments? Explain?

    Yes, this is correct.

It's only paid to people who are on means-tested benefits and that means pension credit OR income support if you're of working age. Not if you're a pensioner who's not on pension credit, which applies to DH and me.

The news media are putting out misleading information, as this statement in the 'Independent': http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/britains-big-chill-heads-for-12c-1230377.html

"Thanks to the cold snap, heating bill payouts to pensioners and the vulnerable have now topped £100 million as the Government stepped in to help. The £25-a-week payout is triggered when an area's average temperature falls to fall to 0C or below for seven consecutive days"

Reading this, one would suppose that it meant all pensioners, but no, it doesn't.

  • I come under the Woodford station and am in Manchester area. My £25 payment went in this morning. It is the second I've had, the last one was received 17th December. Apparently the Woodford station has three times been triggered by sub zero temps. so maybe we are due a third payment?

i rang my Benifit delivery office today and asked about a cwp as waddington has been triggered and it is supposed to cover my area. they told me that actually waddington only cover the south coast of the humber and that leconfield is my station, have to check if thats on the list but he also told me that altho waddington has triggered its only the DN postcodes so i take it from that the stations covering more than one postcode areas, if they are triggered do not always pay out in all postcodes they cover IYSWIM.

AH HA i have had a look for the leconfield weather station on found the following , it is a list of new informmation been added to the cold weather payment stedule and it was done in october listing the postcodes covered as of Oct 08 and leconfield is on there, now we ust need to find a list of the triggered sites with the new stations on it.

Being disabled does not automatically qualify you, you would still need to be in receipt of IS. Also, you do not get 'registered' as disabled anymore, the disability premiums mentioned are for those in receipt of DLA or on long term IB (and in receipt of IS).

Yeah thats fine, cwp is something i am not entitled to, but worth me checking here first ;)
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?
  • It says that 2 payments have been triggered for my local area (Dunkeswell) but I haven't recieved any  How long do they take?

Do you know what date your sisters payment was for? I come under the same weather station and not received any payments yet. I suspected we should have got one for end November beginning of December but nothing has appeared.

According to the links in this thread up until y/day it has triggered only once for my weather station but not sure if that is for Nov/Dec or for this week.

Huge thanks to all who have posted links on here, very helpful!!
