Re:inappropriate dressing here is an article on the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/panorama/hi/front_page/newsid_7811000/7811468.stm regarding sexual bullying in schools.

That makes for scary reading. This sort of thing was unheard of when I was at school. We were so innocent then and our parents made sure we were children for as long as possible. There is so much sexual influence everywhere now, in clothing, on TV and in magazines and so on, that youngsters are exposed to it from an early age. It makes it very hard being a parent these days.

Mummysaver thanks for the info re the steamer. I will try rice next I think. Runner beans had a lot more flavour but could have done with a little more cooking I think, or perhaps I like them too soft!!

Keep up the good work Cazspatch re the smoking. Hope you feel better soon.

Had dinner, washed up, am sitting on here craving chocolate because this is when I usually have some :o will have to have a surf to take my mind off it.

    Have a good evening all
  • Hi Everyone

Very late today as been at work, first day back and it was horrible. I forgot how stressful my job actually is and I really think I need to do something about it because I just can't switch off, sat here now with work stuff surrouding me on the sofa and I resent all of it I really really do! I actually cried when I was walking down the road to the bus stop on the way home, I'm sure it isn't normal to feel like that about a job, is it?

Sorry everyone, I'm such a whinger and I'll stop now!

    OS wise, not much today

1 load of washing done and dried,
3 shirts ironed for the week,
Mince out the freezer for tomorrow's dinner,
    S & S'd the bathroom

Thats about it actually, oh well! I'm only doing a half shift tomorrow 1-7 but then I have a meeting til 8.30...grrr! Sorry I'm whinging again, just having a down in the dumps day.

Hugs to everyone who would like one!

Well, my day's gone okay and I've been not too bad at the OS either ;)

Washed two loads overnight on the Economy 7 and they were dried outside :) Another load of delicates on just now and might stick them outside too as it's blowing nicely.
Made my pan of soup - got 7 portions, 2 for lunch, 3 in freezer and another 2 in fridge for tomorrow :)
Taken some RTC steak out of the freezer to make a chilli in my slow cooker tomorrow (it'll be the first time this year I'll use it!)
The dog's been out for 3 walks as it was such a nice day
About to go and make a mushroom and blue cheese starter and who knows what's for main course, as DH is in the kitchen for that :)

Have a good evening - No telly for me tonight, I'm researching and writing my report

    PenPin - thinking of you
(((hugs))) to those feeling poorly or sad.
Back to work today - nice to see the lovely people I work with. Some of the students are fab and some not so fab but that's life. I try to think of each as someone's son.
Tea is yesterday's HM chicken and veg broth. We're going to have 2 plates of that and then some cheese and biscs. Prob the same tomorrow and then it will be finished.
Just been out for a walk with doggies so off to eat soup now.
    Keep warm everyone

Well its still snowy here and its now getting colder and colder.I can see walking might get a bit tricky tomorrow with slippy patches everywhere.

I've got the car back after its MOT and it failed on the wiper blades and one tyre. But the mechanic just put the spare on and replaced the blades and passed it so job done and all for £65 I was expecting at least £150 as I thought the brake pads would need to be changed but apparently not so.

This talk of steamers has got me wondering.I am not a great steamer of veg but I do use one for steaming sponge puddings and suet puddings etc but mine is too small.Does anyone have a steamer that is big enough to fit 2x1lb pudding basins in.Not necessarily on the same layer I add.I've been looking at the Debenhams sale and Lakeland website but unless you physically see a pan you cant judge the size of it

Evening, everyone. Hope you've had a good day. After battling with the icy conditions, we've both made it home safely. And the first day back at work after a nice long break was... well, nice, actually. It's been quite fun, so I'm really expecting tomorrow to be back to normal. :D

Toad in the Hole is cooking nicely, just the rib-sticking thing for a cold evening such as this. Now to have a look through the rest of the site. (((hugs to those in need or just feeling low))) I feel like a hot bath and some TV tonight, but I think some OS things (like counting the pennies in my "Chocolate Fund" money box will be more likely! Still feeling a teeny bit rough, but practically back to normal, which is nice. :)

    Have a good evening, all

Hello everyone, seem to be chasing my tail at the moment.

Had a bit of a shock this morning when I went to the Drs. I walked in and she said "have you come for your blood pressure taking", "No, I said totally bemused" it seems I should have gone back in November as it was high in October but they did not tell me I am sure, for I am not that 'daft', behave now. Anyway my blood pressure was very high, so I have to go immediately off HRT  , try to lose weight (if only), reduce salt (don't use much of it), reduce alcohol (well breweries would go bankrupt if they relied on me, I have really cut down to next to nothing trying to lose weight), and don't smoke (never have), and take more exercise - a real challenge. I have to go back in 2 weeks and if it has not gone down him blood tests there and then.

The only other time I have had high BP was in the last month of pregnancy, and that did not go down until I returned to work. I hope I do not have to start working again for it to go down. It really is unbelieveable, I had no problems whilst doing an extremely stressfull and demand job, and get it not "retired".

On the OS side, the decorations are down, and today we had left over salmon/mash pie, DS & GF went to their respective residences yesterday, I seem to have had a mountain of washing, and now it is bedding and towels. Called at Netto this morning for fresh veg, have enough of everything else, if not too much.

I can see that some of you have not been very good recently, or have had poorly, OH's, LO's, Friends, Doggies and Cats. Big Gentle Hugs to all of you.

Welcome newbies, I am being a bit hit and miss atm.
    Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
