Morning everyone!
I hope you're all well today and for those back at work, finding it not too much of a shock to the system. I'm due back on Wednesday
Well, it's a lovely day here and I've got two loads of washing on the line, hoping that they'll dry off. DH is tackling the ironing and I'm planning on making a bit pot of carrot and lentil soup that will do us both for lunch this week.
Oh, yes as well as trying to tackle the report due in for Friday.......
Have a good day whatever you're up to!0 -
Hi all
First day back today, but stayin put and doing expenses and monthly reports etc from home,we have had a good couple of inches of snow this morning - seems nice now the suns on it,just beware everyone,we had central heating on all day yesterday but small sink in downstairs loo,the waste pipe froze last night and had to pour some hot water on outside of pipe to release it,must have been cold!!
Venturing out soon to p.o. but soon be back I think....take care all

Morning :hello:
Its cold here again today, but now it has snowed it seems a bit warmer than it was yesterday, funny how it works like that sometimes.
I was MIA yesterday, had problems with my wireless mouse thought it was the battery at first, but it was'nt tried a normal one which is really old and was stuck in the back of the cupboard, that was'nt brilliant either, but now my lovely clever OH has done a really Heath Robinson construction and it works, for a bit anyway. I need a new one really.
I need a new laptop too this one has most of the letters worn off,
the battery does'nt hold a charge now either, and I need more memory to cope with the stuff I have on here....it is soooooo slow sometimes..... I've had this one for 5/6 years now , it was second hand when DS1 gave it to me.
I have saved quite a bit over the last year and with the money the 2 Mums and OH gave me for Christmas, and what was in the change jar(I got permission to use it first though, OH can have the next lot) I have £300 :T
Looking at the prices in the sales I should get a good one for that.
Just goes to show all this OSing pays off in the long run, but as they say "if its worth having its worth waiting for"
Off out to get the shopping for us,MIL and my Mum, if we have time then we will have a look at Techi stuff
Sausages for dinner tonight, but will have a sandwich at MrM's while we are out.I need to stock up on baking stuff, porridge oats, sugar, golden syrup,SR flour ....ermmm can you guess what it is yet????bet Twink can:rotfl:
Havent read through yet so will when I get back.
See you all later
Anne

Morning all
Lovely 3inches of snow when we woke up this morning :j We love snow - the buses weren't able to get up the hill for a while and DD1's school is a 40 mins bus ride away so we opted for the "snow day" - the school are very good about it - they have a lot of rural areas around so they know how slippy it can get. As I don't drive, if the weather worsens I wouldn't be able to get her home either.....have another girl from her class round for the day as her mum had to get to work....they're currently drinking hot choccy, in pj's, watching films. DD2 wasn't impressed...but her school is within walking distance so there was no excuse.
Need to make some soda bread and cakes/muffins today, but will leave that until after lunch. Pasta, mixed beans and tomato sauce to bung in the SC later for tea.
Toying with the idea of a pressure cooker, my nans used to scare the living daylights out of me but I'm guessing the more modern ones are safer...
On the subject of clothes/young children.....I can't abide the boots/logo'd t-shirts - DD2 does have a tracksuit with "gorgeous" on the bum, but it was brought at a bootfair for DD1 about 3 years ago as a "round the house" outfit - I paid 20p for it and it's still going strong, but it's not something I'd let her wear out (ifkwim)
Off to look for some ideas for the 10 rapidly blackening bananas in the fruit bowl..

Morning all!
Golly what a cold weekend it was! No snow here though, my little part of South Devon rarely gets snow.
OH is back to work today, he so hated getting back up early again and I bet cycling to work exhausts him, he hasn't done anything remotely energetic since the week before Christmas!
to the thread danksshady
Karriebee - good luck with the interview
Frenchmaid - good luck for today
Happyroly - send big fat cat purrs to your cat from Treacle.
Thanks for the hugs Churchmouse, still thinking of you.
aussie - hope Benny is getting better..
Rage - I haven't seen the new Dr Who in anything either but I think I trust the guys who hired him that he should be the one. I just hope they have an 'older' companion to balance it out rather than some teenager.
sistercas - I am beyond green with envy!!
I HAVE to start my pinata today, I only have 5 days to finish it in and that just isn't enough time really, so will be off this puter and getting covered in glue and paper for a few days!
BM is on - the house smells lovely and the washing machine is trundling away. The house feels empty without the lodger.
Not sure about dinner - I think corned beef quiche and mashed potato. My OH asked for a potato ricer for Christmas and it's his new favourite toy! Plenty of broccolli in the house which is great cos I love it!
to everyone who needs one today.

Morning all! We had a small amount of snow but is melting quickly!!
I feel better this morning so am hoping not to have all week of work (weird but after a week in bed looking forward to going back)
SC soup worked yesterday - not sure i can eat it but DH is taking to work. He thought my BM was on fire yesterday (its just new) so opened it all up so the Bread was still doughy inside so i will try again today!! When hes at work.
My mum is popping over to see me and i am making Toad in the hole tonight and may bake a cake!! See how i feel!
Hope we get some more snow

Morning everyone,
Churchie, thinking of you.
Aussie, I hope Benny's getting better.
Welcome to all the new posters in the thread. :hello:
We didn't have a good start to the week. Over the holidays we've been going to bed later and later and getting up later and later in the mornings, so we knew it would be difficult this morning with everyone going back to work and school. I woke to go to the loo, got back into bed and glanced at the clock. 8.34am! I shook Mr Pink to waken him, got dd up for her holiday job and rolled ds2 out of bed, stuck a pancake in his hand and dragged the poor white faced child round to school....only to find that school doesn't start until tomorrow.
The good news is that ds1 is coming home from Norway today and ds2 is delighted that he'll be off school and able to go with me to collect his brother who he's missed really badly. I can't wait to see him but I'm not looking forward to telling him about Tilly. He's particularly attached to her so we didn't tell him while he was away as there didn't seem to be any point in upsetting him. She's still very quiet and doesn't seem able to jump up onto things. The dribbling continues which I think is a bit upsetting for her but she seems to clean it up when she's awake so it's only when she's asleep that we need to put a pad under her. Sorry if that's too much information.
The vet has said if it didn't clear up we would have to make a decision on whether or not we could live with an incontinent cat, but frankly that's not an option. If an animal is in pain or distressed I could do it, but not just because it's inconvenient for us.
This morning I've begun the post-Christmas clean up. We've been lighting the fire every night so the whole house is thick with dust. The washing machine has been through two loads already. Tea tonight is lasagne and ds and I have made a trifle then this evening I'm back to work after almost a month off. I'm dreading the thought of it but I'll probably enjoy it once I start.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Well, so far I have changed dear heart's bed (evil cat was asleep on mine and little bear can manage in sheets that have been on three days). I have the first of many loads in the washing machine. I have given little bear some really good cuddles. He is in his room. He was absolutely shattered - white face, big dark circles under his eyes, couldn't be bothered with breakfast... So I took him upstairs, put him in his bed and now he sounds like he's moving furniture. I daren't look. I just heard a chuckle on the monitor that was completely pure mischief.
Frenchmaid - evil cat has the same opinion as your little furry friend. She begged to go out, but came back in immediately with a look that said, 'they haven't turned on the heating!'
Brokenwings - I have exactly the same problem with worrying at night, but I have had some success in fantasy decorating - just trying to work out how much wallpaper, paint, curtain material etc in my head. It has been remarkably successful. As I am now absolutely desperate to move, I have been also planning theoretical houses. I rarely get beyond the first room before I am asleep. If I can concentrate on it and not all the silly things running around in my head
I have no idea what to do for tea tonight.
