Morning all and a happy new year to all my OS friends.

Didn't get the chance to post over the new year as I was up to my ears with unextepced visitors who just left on Saturday. Each time I sat down to post something would interrupt grr.

Churchmouse ((huge hugs)) to you, I hope you are ok

FrenchMaid I hope your appointment goes ok
((hugs) to all those not feeling great or just to those that need a hug
cat hugs from the little furry mudgekin to the poorly pets.

it is freezing today, thank god there is no snow though as I hate the walk from the station when it is all slushy and snowy. Soggy feet make me an unhappy mudgekin.

I was counting the pennies last night and this will be a really tight month even though I didn't spend a huge amount over Christmas compared to what I would normally have spent. I definately have this site to thank for the fact that I do have a little bit more leeway than normally in January. Day 3 of not smoking and so far I am managing to maintain my composure. It is a dreadful and expensive habit I know but one that is so hard to break. This time I shall succeed :D

Dinner tonight will be tagliatelle with a cream and mushroom sauce. I must use a carton of cream up that I have left and I discovered a bag of pasta in the fridge that should have been used at the weekend. I had a massive kitchen clear out of all my cupboards and fridge yesterday. My fridge is much healthier looking than it has been for ages. I am sure if an environmental health officer had looked in it he would have been horrified  The next fre weeks will be a complete clean of the house as it is really just now that I feel fit enough to tackle it. Things really slipped all last year because of my back probs and subsequent surgery but I still find that if I do too much I pay for it for days after. Once it is all under control then I will be following Flylady's thread.

I am hoping that for the rest of the month I can get by with eating from the freezer and cupboards mainly apart from milk and stuff for picky old mum. Will see how that goes.

I hope everyone has a good day :A

    Morning all,

Just couldn't get out of bed this morning. I don't have any work until the 21st Jan so it's even more important that I budget :j

Still to decide what to have for tea. DD has a ballet lesson at 4pm so by the time I collect DS from nursery it will be nearly 5.30 before we're home so I think it will be a casserole - need to get my finger out and find the meat in the freezer.

Going to take my mum shopping today. Dad is going for his treatment this morning - the first for every day for 7 weeks and doesn't want anyone to go with him so mum is a bit down. Need to take back an outfit to M&S - dd who is 4 got a hotpants outfit  - just a wee bit too young for her I think !

Hope everyone has a lovely day
So little money - so much time

    morning all!

still a bit of snow on the ground here.
DS2 back to college today. DH off on his milkround at 3am:eek: last day off for me - going to do a small cleaning job this morning - just vacuuming for an elderly lady who's recovering from a knee replacement. Later am hoping to get DS1 to sort his wardrobe out as its packd with stuff he never wears.

I also have to plan my first EXTEND class for work tomorrow - bit nervous but be glad to get started.

French Maid - good luck today x

PP - sorry you're not too well (((hugs)))

    Churchmouse (((hugs)))

OS wise - ironing, hanging washing on airer, eating from storecupboards, walking into town instead of driving.

have a great day all - for those returning to work hope its not too bad!;)

Morning all, no snow here, but the car will need a scrape I think. When we spoke to my aunt on Christmas Day they had had a couple of days of bad snow. Mum's comment was that it would be with us in a fortnight, we often get 'their' weather a couple of weeks later, depending on the prevailing wind of course!

Did lots of cooking yesterday with haul of whoopsies from Mr M, sorted the veg, just need to sort the fruit now for what needs cooking and what will go in the bowl.

back to work this morning, Deep Joy. Never mind, I'm not doing many hours at the moment. Will give me time to get cleared up here. DH and DS took the decs down yesterday, deal being that I would box it all up.

Not ready yet, so need to fly.

  • Morning all, crisp and cold here today.
I've just spent my 3rd night tossing and turning.I can't get any sleep with my back and leg pain since I slipped on the ice a couple of weeks ago.Dare'nt take anymore painkillers.Oh how I hate turning into an old grumpy guts.
I'm just going to potter today and do what I can.Washing first though as I don't think we're going to get much good weather this week.
For those of you that need them (((hugs))),
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all!

Thought we were all back to normal today, then saw dd3's lift sailing past - yep you guessed it, she's got an INSET day! Ah well! Her dad is going to be here today as his car is being serviced at the garage up the road, so he can look after her or she can come with me if she wants, I'm going out to lunch with my friend who's birthday it is today - best make sure we head for a pub with a play area, else she'll drive everyone nuts!

It was lovely having everything organised last night ready for this morning, kids were great as well, they were up and dressed by 7am! Doubt that'll last till the end of the week, probably won't even happen tomorrow lol!

Need to do some washing, ironing, put on bm with rolls for tomorrow's lunches and sort out the menu plan that I forgot to do yesterday! Think dd2 wants to do it again, so she can do that after dinner tonight. Planning on gnocchi in tomato sauce, filling and easy! Will also need to have a tidy round of my bedroom again, as assorted pressies still need homes, will hopefully be able to fit all the smellies in the bathroom cupboards.

I hope everyone has a good day, and to whoever it was with a broken boiler I hope it is fixed now, or if not then very soon, and to whoever had the interview, good luck! Elona and Churchmouse, thinking of you both today. Hugs to anyone in need, stay warm peeps xx

    Morning to all

Well the boiler man came yesterday and fixed the heating - £95 for 20 mins is not a bad wage!

However, woke this morning to a definite nip in the air which was not just due to the dusting of snow we have in South Glos this morning. The heating was not working again!

Called the man and he says it needs draining down and something doing to it involving changing the tri valve. Sounds long and pricey. he will call me later to say when he can do it. When I called him at half eight he was still in bed, no doubt having earned enough over the weekend to have a few hours off today!

We are all trying to lose weight in this house from today. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to be OS and lose weight without losing £££££s. We are short of cash and I still have no firm job offer.

Neave we have lost a teacher in our primary school at the end of the last term, no money to pay her! I thought teachers were sorted and there was a shortage.

Hugs to all who need them.

Hermione - wow, I think I need to retrain and become a plumber or boilerman! On the bright side I read something about the fact that people used to consume more calories and carbohydrates, they were needed as people had more physical jobs, walked more and didn't have central heating so also burnt energy just keeping warm! So a cold house will help with your weight loss plans! Small consolation when you're freezing though!

There is a weight loss thread on the OS board, I'm sure someone can do a linky for you, or just have a browse on the first couple of pages.

Very snowy outside hope the main roads are OK. Lentil soup in the slow cooker and washing machine on. I need to get dressed and off to work. This afternoon decs will be put away, didn't get round to it yesterday, DS is off until tomorrow so will see if I can get him to help. Must rush round and clear the radiators. Have a good day everyone.
