Oh good luck for the home births, I'm a hospital midwife but I love home births. Much nicer.

Meant to say while I was on nights I was lucky enough to deliver the last 2008 baby and the first 2009 baby! Doesn't often happen like that.
We even managed to sit and see the New Year in with nibbles and soft drinks !!

I'm much happier on day duty though. Nights is just not natural!

    Hello again everyone.

    Hello All Newbies

(((hugs))) to all those who have suffered a loss - seems to be a lot. I did raise a glass to my Nan - she loved Christmas in that she got to see everyone.

Mrs MH - Lakeside wasnt too bad DS tried on over 15 pairs of Jeans and they were all too big. Gap does do a slim fitting so will have to go to Chelmsford next week as the Lakeside one has shut down. Borders shut a quite a while ago - used to like popping in the Starbucks there.

Loved the film - a nice feel good film - made even better by the fact it didnt cost us anything.

Chilling for a moment but in a minute need to put the tea on.

Hi all; just had all the family round and had a lovely afternoon with them. DH is still not home from work so I'm not starting dinner yet. He should be home around 7.30 so I'll put the bolognaise on at around 6.50. I'm now eating some choccie just to keep me going!

Welcome to more newbies; so glad you have joined this great thread.
Cazpatch - I do hope that 2009 gets better for you. You've had a rotten start to it, haven't you?

I shall definitely be taking the decorations down tomorrow. Everything will be back to normal on Monday so I want to get the house all tidied up again and I have a busy week coming up.

I hope everyone is surviving the cold - I shall be so glad when it finally warms up!

Well, I'm going to clear up a bit and sit and knit until it's time to get the dinner on.

Hope you all have a great evening.

    evening all,

Been out for a lovely long walk, about 9 miles today, its was lovely, sat and had a picnic in a beautiful churchyard over looking fields and forest, it was not too cold all the time you were moving, but my goodness once you stopped  , it has been a freezing day, at home now wrapped in a blanket, with a hot water bottle, so thawing out, little dog has had her dinner, and is now fast asleep in her bed ;) .There may be snow headed our way on Monday :T , I do hope we get some, have not had any for a while, there was some in April in this area, bit we were away in Devon and missed it  .

Curry has been ordered, and dd will be home shortly, going to have a glass or two tonight  , so will raise a glass to all those who have lost someone special this year, hugs to you all.

Welcome to newbies, you will love it here xx

Sunnyday thanks for the recipe, i printed it off too x

    Have good evenings all xx
  • There seems to be a few people in need of hugs today *hugs*

My plan went out of the window about 5 minutes after I posted earlier on, my mum rang and asked if I would go shopping with her as she is on the look out for a new three piece suite. So spent 3 hours traipsing round DFS, SCS, CLS, BHS and the like! ARGHHH!!!

We went went to visit my Gran, she's not well...again! I just don't get how she keeps going I really don't bless her.

It's my second day of OS and it doesn't appear to have been very productive, we have done 2 loads of washing and the second one is in the dryer now. I've finally took the NYE decorations down and ran round with the hoover, done downstairs and the stairs. I didn't batch cook the bollagnese sauce though, probably should do that tonight or maybe I'll do it first thing tomorrow instead.

Tonight we're having cheesey apple pork steaks, going to get started on that right now, the pork has been defrosting all day so shouldn't take too long.

    Enjoy your evening everyone!

    Hi all
I'm a very new poster but have been lurking and trying to follow OS tips for a while now. I'm hoping to join the flylady thread although luckily we have a small house and with only myself and DH it doesn't get too mucky. I waas hoping to get the bedding washed and out on the line today but it was so cold here that it was no go. Ah well.

    Afternoon

Have written a large list and therefore I am productive:D Other than that not a lot today really.

Did anyone get the free calendar on the Dec Good Housekeeping mag? Thinking of having a go at the Sticky Chicken recipe for Jan which looks lovely but I would need to go and buy mirin  and 4 star anis which I am not holding out too much hope on my local Asda stocking. Anyway let me know if anyone has tried it - after my disasterous black bean soup I may not bother and get a take away instead:D

    Have a great weekend all

Yes Nelski - I got the calendar. I don't usually keep them but thought that the recipes in this one looked fab. Our other calendar this year is Kylie, bought for DH by the kids

ed to add - welcome karriebee
cazspatch ((((hugs)))) - I used to suffer from IBS when I was younger and it's no fun. Take things easy

Good evening and ((hugs)) to all who need them. Today we had home made bean burgers with polenta and cabbage for tea and a sort of pastry cheese and tomato ish experiment thing for lunch. Tomorrow we'll have sandwiches for lunch and then a soya mince, carrot and gravy pie, Yorkshire puddings and cabbage for tea. Got a cauliflower as well, so will have cauliflower cheese on Monday I think.
