Drove DD back to Newcastle this morning as her lectures start next week.

Did a big shop for her in Morrisons to get her stocked up with food etc.

Got home about 4 and started to tidy up - have cleaned, hoovered, dusted, polished and tidied our bedroom and DDs have done the same to their bedrooms. Will sort out kitchen and bathroom tomorrow morning and wash the kitchen and hall floors so they can dry before the house is viewed in the afternoon.

DD(23) is getting a lift home from Oxford tomorrow ready for the funeral on Monday.

Somebody thought it would be a great joke to uproot the "for Sale" sign and deposit it in a neighbour's garden - somehow I don't see the funny side after eighteen months of the house up for sale!!!! Grhh!

Hugs to everyone having a bad time or feeling poorly and welcome to cazspatch,Teapartymum, Kath,Lucy, Curly and Karriebee.

  • I have a shiny sink, lol, as you can tell the flylady got me!

Good day today really, done some work (the paid for kind), done some work (the unpaid one) like folding washing, cleaning bathroom etc. DD enjoys it with both of us being around, it will be weird when dh goes back to work and I guess a bit of a shock to the system for me too!

Well, I better go and say night, night, DD recently gets me up at 5am every day...sigh...
  • Evening to you all.
Long time lurker here and am hoping for some new and less expensive habits!:D
Am trying to get into the habit of looking through cupboards etc properly when making shopping lists, did that today and found shampoo and toothpaste hiding, both of which were on my list!Result!:T
Also looking through online bank statement found that BT who I only have line rental with, have been charging me alot more monthly than just rental for a while, so rang them and got that sorted, and should have £75 back in my bank account in the next week!:j Must get in the habit of checking my statements regularly!:o
Have just finished my last 'dose' of turkey curry! Thank goodness thats gone!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!:D
  • I would like to say hello to all the new faces. People are very kind here, so you can say anything, and I frequently do. They are so lovely. Even if you are aspirational OS, as myself, and I have less OS days than I would like, they still make you so welcome and are so lovely.

Evil cat is being more than usually evil, little bear has been more than usually active and dear heart is, well, absolutely gorgeous in the tshirt he was wearing today but I don't know whether I am on my head or my heels.

As this is late I will cut and post this tomorrow so it will do duty for two days, like left overs. If you are reading this tomorrow, I wrote it last night.

I visited town today. I just needed to get out of the house, but to be perfectly honest, the only thing I wanted to buy was a bunch of bananas for little bear. Of course I spent more, but less, I think, than I would have otherwise done. I bought some tops for little bear half price in the sale - 6 for £11! I am very happy with that and they were from Boots so should wear well. Also I got some honey and ginger tea for dear heart who is suffering from his throat. I did find myself wondering about what I actually needed. :o As little bear is getting extremely keen on using crayons I also invested in some art materials from the Early Learning Centre, as I had not seen them reasonably priced elsewhere. I am going to excavate in the junk room and see if I can find some old rolls of wallpaper for him to use for scribbling on. That is OS.

My darling uncle rang back this morning - the washing up liquid had frozen in its bottle. He is not very elderly, he is in his sixties, but he is not a well man, he is diabetic and partially sighted. I do worry about him. He has to boil a kettle to wash up in the morning as the hot water tank is heated only by the coal fire, which he doesn't always light (silly man!). Also he is sitting under blankets etc. He is uber OS, but his house is not very well tended. I live so far away from him and cannot drive. Dear heart will not allow little bear in the bungalow, just in the garden.

Little bear is in big boys bed again tonight - I wonder where I will find him. If it is like last night I will find him in his bed.

    Hugs to all

Well, just thought I'd better report in. Spent the day sorting out paperwork, shredding old stuff and just general getting on with stuff. Got dh to help change the sheets as soon as we got out of bed! done 4 lots of washing, 3 on racks, last one tomorrow. Lots of bedding so not much ironing. LOL!

Left overs from Thursday's mixed grill for dh and I, ds out to a party.

We went to see Australia, which was long, but really enjoyed it. We were good and didn't get snacks in the interests of economy. o% deal run out on the credit card, so doing our best to pay it off ASAP! Really going to try hard to keep food spends down as I know this will help the case.

dh running in the morning, so I will stock up on fruit at Mr M and as little else as possible.

    See you all soon

  • We had Cheesey Apple Pork Steaks, basically I cooked the pork in the oven and just as they were done, spread some apple sauce over them before gratering a little cheese on top. Then I stuck the whole lot under the grill til the cheese had melted. We had them with hm oven chips and fried mushrooms.

It was one of the nicest meals I've had in ages and it all cooked my me..I'm very proud of myself for thinking up something, which may sound very daft to you seasoned OS's.
Doesn't sound a bit daft to me, sounds fabulous! Will definitely "borrow" your recipe for the pork steaks. mmmmmmm :D

  • Just stopping by to say welcome to all who are new. It's like having your friends over when you sit around talking and drinking coffee. Very enjoyable.

Made bean soup with veg in SC today and had that with cornbread for dinner. DH and lil furbaby (doggy) both liked it. ;) I put one portion in the refrigerator for DH to take with a sandwich to work on Monday and 3 portions in the freezer.

Gave the flat a good tidy up today and cleaned the kitchen well. Furbaby and I went to the park for an hour so she could play fetch and see her fur friends. Not too many of them about when we went today.

Poor DH fell asleep about 8 tonight. He was absolutely shattered. I'm not sure how he does it being outside most of the day. And being a civil enforcement officer aka the dreaded traffic warden, he takes a lot of verbal abuse.

Some of the stories he tells me are quite funny. Especially the one about the very posh lady with her furcoat and gucci handbag who came back just after he had booked her earlier this week. She took one look at the pcn on her windscreen and then him and stated, "You f****" in her best finishing school voice.

Little furbaby has just emerged from under the covers to say she's finally ready for her last walk of the night. It will certainly be a short one.

Sleep well all and I'll see you tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. Today has been a hectic day. We had my little girls 4th birthday party today. It went well but half that said they would come didn't so we had a lot of food left over. Today's tea was therefore savoury bread and butter pudding. There's a few sandwiches left but they will go to the ducks. I'm always printing recipes off and loosing them so I've decided to invest in a notebook and write them down instead.
    Anyway, goodnight.

    Hi guys,

A really late one from me today. I have spent hours on line trying to source the cheapest lego fire-station I can for DS1's birthday on the 19th. My brain is now dead from whizzing in between lego, ebay, argos and other shops 'recommended' by AOL. I have managed to get one with postage for under £30, so dead chuffed with that. The family (who want to) will now be asked to pick up accessories (usually anything from about £4.99 upwards) for their pressies. So a complement to the extortionately priced police station he had for xmas! (don't ask - he decided last minute it was his must have pressie!!)

OS wise - the house is spotless, washing up to date, kids and I fed healthily with HM food, re-cycling done (can's crushed and in the green box, plastic in the designated bin by the school, all jars and bottles washed and ready to go.)

Despite getting the carpet cleaner out again today for the boy's bedroom it is still smelling of urine so tomorrow I am going to sponge with vodka and then after a little while wash it again. (Thanks Mioliere, the rug Dr, 1001 and vanish has not banished the smell so I hope your tip will work as well as it did on the mattress.) :T:T:T This time I know for sure it is the LO though and he has had his chocolate rations withdrawn!!!

Tomorrow - the iron**g, bah, shucks. It can no longer be ignored despite sitting on my dining table for the last few days and being ignored. Mt. Everest is back!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It looks like someone is looking after us at the moment as I have had these 2 weeks off work and in the meantime a vicious D + V bug has hit work leaving one client seriously ill in hospital and another one sadly has passed away. Staff and clients alike have been hit, but it is on the wane and I am counting my blessings that my children will have escaped this (hopefully! anyway.) I am not back in until Tuesday so fingers crossed. (sorry to sound selfish here.)

Churcmouse and pen-pin, thining of you both. xxx

    Welcome all newbies :D

Gentle hugs to all else who are in need tonight (errr, today :D )
