    Morning chums,
by george its a chilly one here in North Kent. I can see my washing thats on the line is frozen solid still, no wind at all, so it looks like that will be coming in soon to go on the airer. I feel so chilled to the bone today and my joints aren't working too well with the cold so I don't think I'll be going far at all. I have some nice HM leek and potato soup for lunch, and probably a jacket spud for dinner tonight with salad and baked bean topping I'm trying to lose some weight so no choccies for me tonight.
<<hugs >> to those who need them.
I am going to have a lazy day as I have a nice John Grisham book to read this afternoon with my feet up.Hope everyone has a good week-end .I took some of my decorations down and the tree but the ceiling ones will have to wait until my sprightly DD visits as I don't do standing on chairs ,at my age one doesn't bounce that well when one falls.
    Cheers everyone

  • morning all!! Didn't wake up til 10.30 again. Gonna be a real shock to the system when monday comes and all is back to normal with everyone getting up at 7am!! Todays plans are to do the weekly shop, hoover round and find various places to hang the washing when it comes out of the WM.
My DS (15) is also a nightmare to buy jeans for too - he has a 33 inside leg and a tiny 28 in waist. He is too tall for kids jeans and too small in the waist for adult jeans. Usually find that Burtons is the best place to buy them for him but at £25 a pop it hurts the purse strings!! The amount of food he puts away is unbelievable, i dont know where it all goes!!
Tea tonight will be gammon, egg and chips for the family and maybe beans on toast for me. DH finished putting up the coving in the spare room yesterday so he will crack on with the new skirting board today. Then i can get in and paint them before he starts on the wallpaper.
Hugs to all those that need them!!

Need to rejig cupboards check what is left of xmas stash to be used up and get SC out so can start using it again from next week when normal routines resume. Must fit a walk in as none yesterday.

  • Morning guys

Only two more sleeps till everyone is back to work / school here. I am actually looking forward to getting evrything back to normal....we have all been so ill over christmas that normality will be more than welcome.

I have put the wm on and when it empties I will put everything out on the radiaters to dry - no TD for me now:beer:

I have been out in the garage this morening and had a bit more of a sort out, we need to do a quick run to the tip this afternoon and I have some more stuff to put on freecycle! I have put loads on lately but I never seem to get anything that I ask for. Oh well - at least my stuff has gone to good homes.

The house looks tidy and I need to do my menu plan for next week before I go shopping. I am trying to cook more interesting food and my recipie book fetish means that I have loads of ideas to choose from. The only problem is that my DS who is 3, is such a picky eater. He always just wants to eat plain pasta and whatever I do it s a struggle to get him to eat things. I am sure it is just a fad as he hasn't always been this fussy but it can be so frustrating that he doesn't want to eat what we eat.

Oh and DD are playing Mario Olympics on the Wii - thats not vey OS is it;)

I have been reading and posting on here for a little while and it is strange that you really do feel like you get to know about about peoples lives.

Curley Top - I am really sorry about your loss - christmas is really difficult when you lose someone at that time of year isn't it. I hope that your new OH spoilt you.

Halight - I always like reading your posts. You sound so positive and happy with your family life.

Thrift lady - When I grow up, I want to be like you.... Christmas pudding muffins yum yum

    See you all later

    Afternoon peeps

Happy New Year everyone!! I`ve been missing since new years eve but i`ve managed to catch up now - finally :D

Welcome to all the new posters and :hello: to all returnees :D

Churchmouse - Huge ((((HUGS)))) for you, so sorry to hear your news.

Pink - Hope Tilly is getting better ((((PURRY HUGS)))) for her

I must admit that on here is the first i`ve ever heard of not doing any washing on new years day, that must be the mistake that i made as i was trying to clear the washing basket and did four loads :o we then found that we were locked in the house as the locking mechanism on the front door decided that it had had enough and it broke whilst in the locked position and we couldn`t get out. It`s fixed now though - thank goodness for the credit card, even the locksmith said that the part we needed was a ridiculous price  I`ve just finished taking the tree and other decs down and now the living room needs a good clean, it shall do it in a little while as it`s time for the houndies to have their walk so i shall get all wrapped up as it`s freezing outside. I shall put a wrist support on my wrist before i leave as it`s a bit painful atm, i fell over on some ice on NYE and landed quite heavily on it :o

OS wise today i`ve done more washing and have clothes drying everywhere or so it seems, the dw has been emptied and the rest of the pots have been washed, the bm has been on and it now empty but i shall be making dough in it later on - last but not least there is a huge lamb rogan josh bubbling away in the slow cooker and it`s starting to smell absolutely gorgeous so i shall make a move before i start opening the lid to taste it :D

    Have a lovely afternoon peeps.

mmm, lamb rogan josh in the slow cooker - now that's something I think I'd like the recipe for :D OS-wise, all the ironing is done and the tree and other decorations are down, ready to go into the loft. Ive got to say the place looks a lot tidier now. :) DH2B hoovered the floor and we're both sitting down now for a bit of lunch.

I must get some more meal planning done, as well as my shopping list. We'll likely not be going until Tuesday, but we do need some milk and mushrooms for tonight - Again, supposed to be going into town but not sure when we will ;) I just realised I've managed a couple of NSDs without even thinking about it :D but the real test will come on Monday when I'm going back to work and the lure of a hot drink on the platform calls to me ... No, no! I shall be good! ;)

Anyway, not much else going to happen now. We'll watch a film tonight and just relax, getting ready for work. :)

Popped in this afternoon to give a cheery :hello:to newbies. You won't be newbies long!!
Washing done and I'm about to hang it on clothes horse. Lunch was poached eggs on toast. My DD gave me the idea of spreading the toast with marmite first before adding the egg on top and it is so delcious! Her favourite breakfast is toast and marmite with slices of avocado and a poached egg. Yum yum.
I've had a peak into the flylady thread on here and although everyone seems mega busy, I think it will give me a bit of ooommpphh - much needed- to do some more cleaning and tidying.
Sybil - can't think how your uncle's home could be better heated or insulated unless door hangings/ curtains, draft excluders and think curtain material. Also important for him to keep wrapped up and wear a hat indoors. Plenty of hot drinks.
Ok folks - off to quick browse then hang washing and strip a bed. Might pop into town as I have a library book overdue :eek:and also want to look for patterns for my chunky wool

Hello to all! We got back from Devon at midnight last night - had a lovely few days especially seeing our little nephew for the first time and also seeing 4 year old Polly (niece) again - she's terrified of MrEH for some reason - he's a scary uncle, but I'm adored for some reason!

Welcome katholicos & Curlytop (and any more newbies I've missed) and the usual thoughts go out to those who need them.

In spite of it being after 1am by the time we got to bed (I unpacked bags and put away presents and got a load of washing into the WM before heading bedwards) we were still up and out at a fairly reasonable time this morning. While we were parked up the lane at my In Laws someone whacked the drivers side mirror off the car - had to drive back 250 miles with it held on with gaffer tape  so that went to the garage to get the part ordered first off - £125 by the time it's fitted - rather get it done though. Then did Mr T's - I thought it was going to be a steep one as MrEH was with me, and decided he needed to buy breakfast cereals (Crunchy nut on 750g box for £2 atm though if that helps anyone) plus I forgot to do a list OR take vouchers - but still came out under £20 - aren't I good! :A Then filled the car up with diesel, went into The Range for some card making bits, and dropped MrEh at rugby training. Came home via Mr S's and got myself a bag of their basics prawns to go in fish pies and a pack of their basics White fish (likewise) as well as some cheap christmas cards to top up our levels ready for next year. Won't need any wrapping, bags or cards next year now as we've done so well buying in the sales. :j Since I've been back I've got another load in the WM and also made a fastbake loaf and a pot of soup for lunch, now waiting for Mr EH to ring and tell me he's done training.

Might have to run the car down to the jetwash this afternoon - I hate having to pay for it but really can't be bothered to do it by hand in this weather and it must be done - it's all over salt from the journey to Devon and back.

Hope everyone has a good day!
