Hi all. RedRuby - the house was warm and I hadn't looked out of the window properly before I posted. When I did look, we, too, have a hard frost! It's really bright and sunny though, with blue skies, so I hope you're having some of that!
Essex-girl - my DGS (nearly 9YO) has the skinniest waist I have ever seen and his jeans and trousers are always falling down. It can be a real problem buying him trousers that stay on! My DGD is the same but she loves wearing dresses (hates trousers, because she's girly!) so she's easier to clothe.
Halight - well done on the twins sleeping so well!
DH has gone to work for a few hours just to finish a job. It's a fair few miles away so he wants to get it finished so that he can start a local one on Monday, which is only five minutes away. It's a shame he can't walk but he needs to take all his tools with him. The job he's just finishing is in an NHS home for the severely disabled. He's worked in lots of care homes but this one has really impressed him with the level of care. The staff are wonderful and really dedicated to their job. The patients can't communicate at all but the carers sing to them and carry on conversations with them and show them such compassion, it brings tears to DH's eyes when he talks about it. You hear such dreadful stories of care homes so it's fantastic to know that they are not all bad.
Well, I've decided on spaghetti bolognaise for dinner; unfortunately, that means we'll have had mince two days running because I wasn't thinking! I've prepped the veggies for tomorrow's roast. The BM and WM are both on but the washing will have to be aired upstairs. It won't even start to dry outside because there's no breeze at all. Just as well, or it would be even colder!
I hope everyone is having a relaxing Saturday.

Morning all and happy new year_party_
My family are putting Christmas away till next time. We usually take the tree down on New Year's Day but kept it up a day later this year as we had guests yesterday. There's an argument going on about the chocs on the tree which have mysteriously disappeared:whistle:
I must bake a batch of bread and take some Christmas pudding muffins out of the freezer (leftover Xmas pud crumbled into the batter plus some chunks of marzipan).
Lunch is going to involve 3 leftover baked potato halves, a bowl of leftover peas and sweetcorn and probably some cheese. Sounds.....interesting:D
I cooked a ham for yesterday's guests so have loads of that to parcel up for the freezer, still have turkey in there too plus loads of other meat and fish. I've just bought another 55lb sack of spuds (£4.50) so I'm well-stocked up and really shouldn't need to buy any more food other than milk, flour and fruit& veg for ages.
Better go and help with the tree;)0 -
Morning all.
Essex Girl -Lakeside was horrific yesterday!. We got there early but was already crowded. Queues in all the shops were horrible. DH wanted to go  & kids had xmas money to spend. Afterwards we wanted to go to Borders. When did that close?! Was gridlocked coming out. The only good thing was managed to get maternity tights in Mothercare (along with baby clothes, the baby is real, OMG ) We managed to escape the traffic somewhat though as DH knows the backstreets of Greys/Thurrock as he used to work that way.
Today I am having a good clean of the house. Also need to take the car to the carwash. Not very OS I know, but I live "off road" so to speak, am in a courtyard. And its too cold to wash by hand. Only get a cheapy wash done & somehow in the middle of winter I have bird poop on my car.
Not sure what we are eating today. DH has taken DD to London for football. Kids had breakfast at my sisters cos they slept there last night. I had porridge & DH had toast.
Suppose I ought to stop wittering on & hang up the wet clothes & clean the bathroom.
Take care all

Hi everyone
Hope you don't mind if I join the thread. Have been mooching around for some months now and finally registered to join in December. I love the OS stuff it is really informative. I think my family think I am eccentric cos of the OS stuff I come out with but funny that I'm also the one they come to when they need advice on something that the OS can help with. Lol.
Anyway, cold here too but I was up nice and early today. DH has gone to meet his DS (my stepson) and so I made him a banana cake before the bananas went off to give to him. Am about to put WM on, tidy up, may put Mr T order on, list some ebay stuff, see where I am with getting together list of birthday and christmas pressies for coming year and what ones I can make.
Christmas this year, very quiet, no tree or deccies as had lost my dad 3 weeks before and which was 2 days after I got home from having got married abroad. Am trying to be positive and hope that I can get lots of help from here, because I have become more hooked whilst on bereavement leave and also because I am not really in the mood for physically speaking to people at the mo, but talking via the computer is easier.
Enough waffling. Thanks for listening. Hope to get to know you more.xI got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0 -
