Morning everyone, quite cold and dismal here. We've had such an awful night as we were kept awake by someone playing music and all you could hear was the bass pounding away till about 6am.OH went to work in a right bad mood.
Today I've just got a bit of washing to do and then I'm going to my daughters to spend the day.
I've decided apart from bread and milk I realy don't need to shop till next week.I realy can't get anything else in my cupboards anyway.
I hope everyone has a good day and it's not too cold for you all.
Take care xxx.0 -
Morning all
woke up to what looks like a light covering of snow this morning but its actually a really severe frost - pretty though and strangely it doesnt feel that cold.
Ive walked the dog and fed the birds plus given them some water, done a quick clean around now just having tea and toast before having a bit of a bake - need to make an apple pie and some fairy cakes - also going to make minestrone - well my version of - as i add broth mix pulses as well as the pasta!
Should also do the ironing that i didnt get around to yesterday i suppose
Lunch will be a sandwich or some soup and dinner is steak and chips.

Thought I better catch up with you all....have been MIA for a while...but now things are getting back to normal after Christmas, I have a bit more time to catch up with everyones news
Well, I will have a lot more time actually....cos...I'm not going back to work! Yay! :TAfter being ill last year, the family decided that I should pack up work...I actually finished in September, but with the run up to Christmas and other things to sort out...it only feels like now that I have realised that my working days are over. I must admit that it was very strange at first, but being busy etc. made me forget about it IYKWIM
Anyways...now I will have lots more time to devote to my 3DD's and 8GC...and a wedding in April...so its all good fun :rotfl:
Take care all

Hello fellow OS peeps :hello:
Looks like a nice day here - patches of blue sky.
Plans for the day include walk with doggies, 20 sit ups for me (started this campaign last night - hope it will last as my middle is beginning to spread:p)
Going to start up the 27 fling boogie a la flylady today and that should tidy the house up a bit. There are bits of wrapping paper in boys' bedroom, bits and pieces of 'stuff' around the house that needs thrown out.
Tea will be some frozen fish, pots and peas, so that's easy. The freezer is jammed full of left over veg (bagged and frozen after every 'festive' meal so should make a nice pot of soup), portions of HM stews etc so plenty to eat our way through. DH goes away with work for 3 weeks this month so I should certainly manage to keep the food bill low.
Need to do some ironing and sort out clothes for work.
DD is coming to stay on Wednesday night so am really looking forward to that. She went back up to Edinburgh on 29th and I hadn't expected to see her till spring so this is a lovely treat. She has decided to take advantage of cheap train tickets and go to London to see some friends, so is getting a train here:T.
Ok, off to have a quick browse around here then need to get started on some tidying up. Nothing too energetic though as I am going to enjoy these last 2 days.
Take care all and ((((hugs)))) to those who want one

Morning all ...............((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need one.
I arose just before 9am. OH has just showered and had his breakfast, no sign of a DD this morning, not holding my breath.
Liver and bacon for supper, got a chicken out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow. Will be using the big oven so will also cook cake and scones whilst the chicken is cooking.
Nothing planned for today, I re-did the front of the ring pillow yesterday, so may put the frill on and finish it, so it can be sent off. I need to go to Dunelm to get a 12" cushion pad for it. Will have to leave my CC at home!!!!
Heavy frost overnight, but its just above freezing now. May get out for a walk later, we will see.
Off now to read the rest of the thread.....cherrio..............
I had to add this, I have just read in the Daily Mail that Lancashire CC want to TAG elderly frail reidents in care homes to cut their costs....it means that the frail elderly, who come under the extra care scheme will be fitted with the same sort of tags that prisioners wear, to monitor their condition during the night.......so they do not have to provide staff 24 hours a day.............how long will it be before they decided to apply the same thing all day?????? It makes me boil with rage that the frail elderly can be treated in this way. If anyone tried to tag me there would be a row!!!!! a very big one. It contravenes their civil rights under European Law..........I hope that the residents concerned relatives kick up a stink about it......apart from anything else it is degrading, treating the elderly like prisioners. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Just popping in to say that OS is not likely to be happening today.
BUT little bear slept all night in the bed! He was put in the bed after the normal routine, dear heart put him back in bed later, we know he was up later, but he went to sleep in the bed! With his head on the pillow and everything!
Also, any ideas on how to keep a very draughty badly insulated tin shed masquerading as a home warm - not for me but for my darling uncle. My great grandfather bought the building second hand in 1918 and moved it on to the site, it is just corrugated iron. My darling uncle is in a very cold house and I do worry about him. Also, as the main heating is a small coal fire (which doesn't burn properly in a northerly wind), cannot draught proof too much. -

Hope it's okay to join in the conversation as a recent OS convert. Today will not be OS for me as my car is going to be towed to the garage for emergency repairs today....i remember the days when my Dad would open up an empty baked bean can and weld it to the car when things started falling off it or rusty holes appeared.
Still, needs must, as they say. Hope you all have a great day and happy new year to you all!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Hi Y'all, foggy and cold here in the emids.
After a frenzied day yesterday, cleaning and decoration taking down, I'm off to Shottingham this morning to return a couple of unwanted Christmas gifts and will rootle out something else to have instead, so that's not really spending is it? LOL:D More a credit-crunch version of Swap-Shop. Has Eagle Eye Action Man, wants three graduated pyrex bowls with snap on lids:rolleyes:
Nothing else much planned except delicious fish-finger and mayo sandwiches later on (one of my all time fav treats). I will be making toad-in-the-hole tomorrow though, after church, just to prove I'm not a total sludge-bump in the kitchen.
The conservatory sofa will probably lure me this afternoon for a snuggle with the cat and a good book. Don't ya just love lazy Saturdays?
