Welcome to Kath, Curley & Lucy.
I've got 2 loads of washing done & on the rads, DS turned up with his washing, 1st load is doing & 2nd waiting, so they will go on the maiden. He also wanted to borrow some tools from hubby. Hubby found the tools for him & invited him to lunch tomorrow, we have such a huge leg of lamb for tomorrow & he can help us eat it.
    Hugs Hester

AARRGGG, BIL has just phoned, he needs hubby to meet him at his local petrol station on Monday as he doesn't have enough fuel to get to the job, funny isn't it, he had £2000 in cash on 27th Dec, what the hell has he done with it, he sure as hell hasn't paid his rent!!!

    Afternoon

Have written a large list and therefore I am productive:D Other than that not a lot today really.

Did anyone get the free calendar on the Dec Good Housekeeping mag? Thinking of having a go at the Sticky Chicken recipe for Jan which looks lovely but I would need to go and buy mirin  and 4 star anis which I am not holding out too much hope on my local Asda stocking. Anyway let me know if anyone has tried it - after my disasterous black bean soup I may not bother and get a take away instead:D

    Have a great weekend all

Nelski, I substitute sherry for mirin. Have you got Chinese 5 spice powder -think that has star anise in, at any rate it would give the right kind of flavour.

mmm, lamb rogan josh in the slow cooker - now that's something I think I'd like the recipe for :D

As if by magic - a recipe appeared :D

    1lb lamb steak - cubed
    2 onions
    3 garlic cloved - diced
1/2 tsp each paprika, ground ginger, chilli powder & ground cinnamon,
nutmeg, ground coriander & ground cumin
    40g tin chopped tomatoes
    2 bay leaves
    4 green carmadoms
    4 cloves
    hot water
2 tsp sugar or granulated sweetner.

Throw it all in and stir after a couple of hours :D

I`m mainly guessing with the 1/2 tsp of spices as i don`t measure it and i probably put closer to a teaspoon in, i also sometimes add 2 tins of toms instead of one and add a bit more of everything else to make more.

The hot water i add to make it a bit more liquid if i`m cooking overnight and sometimes if i`m doing this i`ll add red lentils to thicken it or powdered potato afterwards.
Makes a lovely curry that freezes well and if you don`t have any lamb a couple of tins of stewing steak including gravy works well too, especially if you are in a hurry.:D

Very peaceful here now, i`m just back with the houndies. We had a lovely walk across the fields and then they both had a good brush and now they are fast asleep, i`ll not bother with the hoover just yet as i don`t want to disturb them:D

I shall put pizza dough in the bm and curl up with a cuppa for an hour and catch up on the threads.
    Catch up later peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Am back, just want to say what a friendly bunch you are. (((hugs))) to Taplady, wmf; EssexHebridan; halight - I know I am going to love it on here; domestic goddess - yes my DH did spoil me at Christmas, as much as he could anyway; Hardup Hester - maybe your BIL needs introducing to his wonderful site.

Have billywhizzed around the house whilst DH is still out with SS. Nice and quiet and gives me time to think, but also gives me time to get sidetracked on here. Think I am going to have to get an egg timer to time myself whilst on here. Roflol.

Hung washing on maiden and finally put fire on (in the hope of it drying), jsut have to get other wash ready now and peel some spuds for tea.

    Speak later
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

Hi all hope you dont mind me joining you need a bit of a moan and some company.

Xmas was awful - my gran died xmas eve and i have had diarreah since last Saturday!! Cant keep any food in me - forcing myself to have dry toast and sweet black tea (drs suggested)

Dr has sent off sample and signed me off work next week (work in a school so cant go in!) Only bonus is losing weight. However i normally suffer with IBS and wondering if i dont have a bug and maybe something like Crohns as been losing weight over a few weeks without realising and never been tested for IBS always just persumed!

To top it off i was going to try and be os this year - meal planned for the month and was looking forward to trying out new SC & BM. Bought the food but now cant eat it and not sure if i should be making it? Dont want to pass bugs on to OH!

Sorry for moan just had so many plans and they have all gone down the drain. 2009 was meant to be a better year!!

May set up the BM later and use spoons to add to BM so not touching ingredients

    Thanks x
  • Thank you for the VERY friendly welcome.
OH and I have just been out for a walk then I did half hour in the garden, I have clay soil so wanted to make sure it was frosted over on the area thats going to be the vegetable patch and clear all the horrid Ivy away.
have been invited out tonight either Bowling or Cinema, both seem a little exspensive for us but our friends have an announcement (engaged we hope!) so we better go.
ah well better get back to it (think I need an egg timer too!!)

Wow, thanks, Sunnyday! I've made a note of that and am going to get the slow-cooker out again this week :D Must find lamb steak yellow-stickered, must find lamb steak yellow-stickered!! The good news is that beyond the lamb, I actually have all the stuff in. That will definitely be made this week, and then froze into instant ready meals :D

Had to spend today (first time I bought groceries since Christmas) but am not too bothered. DH2B is now showing a few signs of my cold (bless 'im). Now, I'm going to catch up on my cross-stitch! Have a good evening, everyone!

    (((hugs)))
