Hi there, I'd love to join in and lose some weight but need some serious motivation. Any ideas?0
-
WBH, welcome. I recently was advised to ask myself: what is your motivation for losing weight? Mine is:
to look good at a friend's wedding which is coming up
to look good on holiday and feel confident in a bikini
to fit into my clothes and not have to buy a whole load of new ones!
to get my body fat reduced from 30% to 22%
I have 1.5 stone which I never had before clogging me up inside and make me feel heavy and yuk! That has got to go.
So what's your motivation? Dig deep!
I am still not snacking, really hoping it's the hoodia working!!!Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

My motivation? To be me again! I gaind a lot of weight when I became sriously ill, (my wight mor than doubled). A lot of my work was based on my lightweight and some was based on my looks....so my confidence not just in my 'looks' but in my career is gone. When I first got fat, and it happned vry quickly, people literally didn't rcognise m and walked passed me. I have a wonderful husband (who was only j)ust with me when I got ill, who manages to make me feel loved and desirable but I am at the stage where the weight itself keeps me suffering more than my bad health alone would. I'm also very much less social than I used to be because I am ashamed of how I look and very much less confident.0

I can relate to what you said. OK, my weight didn't double but it's increased dramatically enough that I feel embarrassed seeing people for the first time in a couple of years and feel deeply uncomfortable in my own skin (and in my too-tight clothes!).

My motivation hit about 8 years ago when I found myself at a crossroads I was either gonna be huge for the rest of my life or do something about it. I joined WW and then over a number of years and pregnancies eventually got to goal last Jan losing 6 stone.
Over the last 6 months and as expected xmas about 1 stone went back on so my motivation is to get back to last Jan. I know its something that can be done as I've done it before and I know that it will be a lifeline challenge to keep it off but I'm determined to achieve it as I KNOW I have to. I have to for my health, sanity, confidence and pocket (threw out all my fat clothes and don't want to buy new clothes!!!).
So its keep my head down, track what I eat, do as much exercise as I can and I'll get there slowly. I'm glad I've got this challenge to help me as I have always found it best when I am answerable to someone else (for some reason neither myself nor my OH is the right person!) so you guys can be my conscience!
Interestingly, I watched the Paul McKenna tv programme and did the aversion technique on myself for crisps. I know that there is an opened packet of Walkers Sensations (Big bag!) in the house which normally would make my mouth salivate and call to me, like a mermaid calling a sailor to his death on the rocks, until I sucumbed and ate every crisp in the packet and licked the packet clean; but tonight I can think about them and not actually want them!! I've been reinforcing the process but its actually working! I'm amazed. Maybe I find some self control at last!0 -
Hi, has anybody tried this site? It is a weight-loss support and information site with loads of good info, including some great recipes. There are also exercise videos to download, support groups and forums which you can subscribe to (but beware of setting your preferences to limit the number of e-mails that you receive) Best of all... it's free!!

Bunny200, that is great. Training yourself to not actually want junk food is the most powerful tool I reckon, because then you won't even need willpower. :T Boo to crisps!
And hey, you only put a stone back on out of six - concentrte on the fact that you lost the stone (and more) before and can do it again - that's what I'm doing. I've also started looking at skinny photos of myself for motivation!
I'm still taking the hoodia. So far today I've had 4 oatcakes for breakfast and don't feel hungry. I only had breakfast about an hour ago, didn't even feel hungry either. I'm not skipping meals (don't want to wreck my metabolism) but just making them smaller. And not snacking! This is a big thing for me as I am normally snacking constantly at work. If it continues to work I might order some (even though it is expensive, it might work out very MSE if it makes me eat less and I can fit into the skinny half of my wardrobe again!).Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
