I've just had my post weigh-in treat, bacon and egg sandwich! Something that started years ago doing WW and stuck with me, weighed in this morning and since I saw that I'd lost I've been salivating about bacon all morning!!! And it was worth it, yum yum

I've just bought a netbook to make use of the free wireless internet access while I'm away in Turkey, so I can carry on calorie counting and keep up with February's half stone challenge.... how sad is that  :D

I am determined to have a good holiday without trashing my weight!!

I was thinking about when I go on holiday later this month LazyDaisy and I figured that the extra food & drink will most likely be offset with increased activity as I am walking around (I hope so anyway!). Hope you have a good time. I was tempted by the netbooks but not sure whether to get a new lappy instead now.

Hi, to the newcomers, and welcome. Just jump right in!

Re the caloriecount.com site - make sure you click for weight loss (there is a program for maintaining weight). Also there is the facility to set your own target - the site's target was way too drastic for me, so I set it for the weight I was in 2002, which I consider more realistic (that would take me to a size 12/14, which I'd be happy with).

Please also remember - YOU ONLY HAVE HALF A STONE TO LOSE!

You may have more weight to lose in the longer term, and you may still be here for the February challenge and the March challenge and.......

But right now, YOU ONLY HAVE HALF A STONE TO LOSE! You can do it!!

Hi Jessicamb, I have a good laptop which I use at home, but it is too heavy to be carting around, and I wouldn't want to risk getting it pinched or broken as it has too much stuff on it. So a small portable netbook is ideal for me, and I'll get a lot of use from it as I'm often away from home.

But in my view, a netbook is definitely not a replacement for a laptop, its just a useful supplementary accessory. If I didn't already have a laptop I wouldn't be considering the netbook - but that's just my view and I'm prejudiced as I hate sitting at a desk-top pc, so a good laptop is an essential to me. x

Can I join? I also post on the Norn Iron Weight Loss Club thread but sometimes it is a little quiet. :o

I have been so determined to lose weight since 1 January! I have about 1.5 stone to lose - target date is 31 May. I have been doing the following:

Downloaded free hypnosis podcast and listen to it every day
Walking to and from work every day (1 hour in total)
Walking most lunchtimes or evenings for an hour
Eating more sensibly and trying not to snack AT ALL, which has been helped by:

Ultra KLB6 with kelp, lecithin and vitamin B6
Spirulina powder (MINGING but does seem to give me more energy)
Hoodia - I got 10 days' worth free and started taking them yesterday, they do seem to work!!!

I won't know if I've lost half a stone in January unfortunately as I haven't got bathroom scales at home, should I get some? And should I get the basic £3 round dial ones or the all-singing WW ones for £18 that also measure your body fat? Speaking of which, mine is currently 29%. :(

p.s. I have been using foodfocus.co.uk, it is pretty good and free. :)

Good to see you Tara - if you can get to somewhere like Boots that has a scale then don't bother buying your own! If you haven't then I would be more inclined to go for the more expensive scales for home use (and my body fat is currently 50%!!!)
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup :D
